Actually, if you want a good looking knot, you need to tie a Shelby knot rather than a double Windsor. A Windsor will always hang off balance.

Nice tie! Is that a clip-on? Boon, come check this out. Excuse me. Pardon me. Ninety percent rayon! Very nice.

Funny, I had already posted this in a different thread. Great minds think alike. I have to think one of the Straus guys will help him out.

We do need to cut him some slack; he is clearly still adjusting to the CEO role. I really admire that he is copying some of Craig Bohl's very good traits, and his "looking the part" were one of them. Despite how casual society has become, Coach Bohl really understood that and glad to see Coach K. "getting it."

I agree with the half Windsor...if done right won't be askew either. A full Windsor looks ok, but too bulky in my opinion.

The single Windsor has a tendency to hang off balance. A double Windsor doesn't. I go with the double unless it's a short tie or made of thick material. I also leave them tied(a big no-no) to speed up my mornings.

When you can coach a defense to give up 10 ppg, he'll tie his tie like you want.

I prefer the askewness of a single Windsor. Double Windsor requires me to be precisely perfect as the longest ties that I used to be able to find would barely reach correct length, plus it was bulky.

Exactly this - along with the tie material and cut. A big Windsor knot with a point collar is just as out of place as a small Four-in-Hand or Pratt-Shelby with a spread collar.

Anybody have any thoughts about the fact our new AD goes dimpleless? :)

Edit: "many" is an exaggeration. There's a lot of people working in that department

First, this thread is chock full o' win.

Second, I've come very close to posting this confession a couple times but some secrets are too painful to relate. Anyway, deep breath, here it is: I have worn a four-in-hand (skinny knot) with a spread collar. I knew it was wrong but did it anyway. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And I can never get a dimple to stay in my ties. And my only evening jacket has neither a shawl nor peaked collar.

In my defense: Shawl collars belong on smoking jackets and reveal too much shirt (because I spill.) Peaked collars are too fussy. <-- just my opinion

And while I'm at: cummberbunds look like they belong on genies and are the fanny pack of evening wear (exception: Military dress uniforms.) And bow ties should look like you were already drunk when you tied them. <-- again, just my opinion.

actually that one depends. You can wear various pairs..... Like a Foghorn Leghorn hat with George P. Dog on your tshirt Or you can wear the Scooby Doobies on your hat and the Yogi Yahooeys on your shirt. Or you can get really out there and where Mumbly on your hat and Dirty Dalton on your shirt or any kinda combination of there of.....
