The Gridiron Power Index (GPI), the ranking for I-AA and top indicator of at-large playoff selection debuts for the 2006 season with New Hampshire and Montana knotted at the top spot. The Great West Football Conference is the top ranked conference. I-AA's largest league, the Atlantic 10 Conference has seven of their teams in the top 25; the Gateway Football Conference placed five; the Great West Football Conference placed three; the Ivy League, the Big Sky and the Southern Conferences placed two each; the Pioneer Football League, the Mid-Eastern and Ohio Valley Conferences placed one each.
