So you nag on Wolters for not getting a lot of playing time so far this season in the in NBA but making the roster and playing a majority of last season and brag about Wright getting drafted in the D-League and Braun playing overseas? C'mon, give respect where respect is due....BTW i'm not nagging on Braun and Wright for their respective accomplishments. Always rooting for former Summit League players to excel professionally.

Random question, just out of curiosity what does Nate make a year with the Bucks. So far tough break for Nate, looks like the coaching changed hasnt done him any favors.

14/15 $816,842
15/16 $947,276 ; 2015 non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed if not waived on or before 7/15/15
16/17 $1,215,696 ; qualifying offer

Kendall Marshall hasn't got a lot of playing time either. Fun fact, Jerryd Bayless has the same agent as Jason Kidd (Jeff Schwartz). Not saying that is the reason for the lack of time for Wolters and Marshall but it sure doesn't help them.

Yep that's what I missed most last year. Someone willing to go up and throw it down with authority. There were a few here and there but hopefully some of the younger guys can develop that this year. Any of the young guys or recruits have athleticism like Tray?

True. Especially for mid majors. Deng Geu (major miss spell) seems to have a frame like that.

This is absolutely correct, the guy is a freak of nature. That being said I think Deng Geu who's 2 inches taller and has a similar build could be the next dunk master at NDSU. He doesn't quite have the leaping ability of Trayvonn but he appears to have added a little weight to his frame each year which Trayvonn just could not do no matter how hard he tried. With a redshirt year and our training staff I think he'll be able to add a little explosiveness and a little more muscle and I for one cannot wait to watch to posterize the entire Summit League. Tray had to jump over people, Deng might be able to jump through them.

I watched that game they recapped, Taylor wasn't very assertive when he had the ball but played good defense, dove on the floor in a hustle play to get a steal, had a few rebounds and shot 3-4 from the field making the most of his chances. He played good, did have one bad turnover and one silly foul but hopefully he's doing enough, would love to see him get a shot in the NBA. Based on what I saw in that game I'd say the best thing he's looking at right now would be a D-league contract but you never know.

That's been my issue with Braun the whole time. He disappears in games and loses his assertiveness..I was hoping he would overcome that in his professional career.

Yes, I'm aware of that I just meant in terms of finding a home in the NBA. I don't think he showed enough to make an NBA roster so I was just saying the D league is probably the best he'd be looking at stateside.

Wolters signed a two-way deal, meaning if he's "cut" he goes to their G-League affiliate and is eligible to shuffle back and forth between the G-League and NBA. It's a nice concept that gives tweener players a better salary (to stay stateside vs. Euro ball) and gives the teams some flexibility. It will essentially eliminate the 10-day contracts.

Nothing wrong with making a good living in Europe, provided you have someone to talk to....see below.

I was recently talking with a friend of Wolters. Last year, Nate played in Turkey and basically no one on the team spoke English. I guess socially, it was a bit rough on him, but he made serious dough. I'd be interested on how this new two way deal works for him versus that money/social situation.

That's the hardest part about playing a sport overseas I am guessing. The competition is still tough but the mental aspect would be pretty hard.

As long as you still have a passion for the sport. You can't knock someone making a living doing what they love.

Typically yes, if you are one of the 2 players on an NBA roster with a 2 way contract you can make between $50-75K and bounce back and force between the NBA and G-League as needed due to injuries and such. Otherwise G-League players make either $19K or $26K for the 6 month season...basically minimum wage, so while you're in front of the NBA front office daily the pay while in the league is awful compared to some of the higher leagues in Europe these guys could be in.

If Wolter's spends the full 45 with the Jazz he will make around $279,000. He earns $75,000 in salary from the G league and earns the per game rookie when called up. The two days he was active with the Jazz to start the season were "bonus" days not counted in the 45. I think his contract in Serbia last year was around $250,000. Braun is a different story. He does have one of 4 Jazz affiliated roster spots with the Stars which means he can sign a 10 day with any of the 30 NBA teams but getting a 10 day is getting harder now that the league have 2 way contracts. If Braun can earn a 2 way for next season he could be earning much more then he did playing in the lower European (Europcup) league last year. If I were Braun I would take the chance. He's good enough to earn a 2 way contract.

G League
The player’s pay comes on a tiered salary system, which can last one or two seasons. While in the G-League, the player will make $75,000. It’s a significant increase from the current pay structure for G-Leaguers, who cannot make more than $26,000 with a one-way G-League deal.

When in the NBA, a player with a two-way contract will accrue a day of service and make money consistent with an NBA rookie minimum, which is about $816,000 next season. If a player spends 45 days in the NBA, he could make around $204,000.

In total, a two-way player who spends the maximum amount of time in the NBA would make $279,000
