Dream scenario:

1.) Somehow get paired with K-State (or win enough games to meet in the tourney)
2.) Bisonville organizes a massive invasion of the Milwaukee game site.
3.) K-State kid is there in real life
4.) We win and take K-State kid for a night on the town
5.) K-State kid is a hero
6.) NDSU goes on to win the national championship
7.) Whatever else.

So you are going to rip on a company/product because they decided to help the cause? If you don't like the fact that NDSU accepted the $$ for naming rights to the court from DuPont, write a check. I'm sure they wouldn't say no to your generosity and you could've named it. Is anything good enough? Good grief.

Only if Weber St is seeded higher than us, BYU gets a 9 or 10, Nebraska gets left out, and we get a 14. If all that happens, then yes, BV will crash.

Hundreds of DuPont Pioneer employees locally. They all went to NDSU. Worlds largest seed company and ag is the big industry around here. I'm a farmer so it's way cooler to me than most of you. Forgive me

#24 NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon, doesn't have a problem with DuPont. Plus is Polymers & Coatings pretty big at NDSU? I believe they have an international convention on campus every summer.

It's totally fine that they are donating to NDSU. I know we've sent a lot of grads there to work and I know I did an project with them when I was in school. And yes I know we are an AG school so it makes sense in that aspect too.

I just get tired of all the corporate sponsorship and they have to have their names plastered over everything. I said the same thing for Gate City Field, Target Field, etc. Give me Wrigley Field and Fenway Park anyway. There's no reason why someone can't donate the money without plastering their name all over everything. I get it though, I just need to accept it and get used to it because it's not going away anytime soon.

Um, who is Wrigley Field named after? Fenway is named after a neighborhood so I see your point on that one.

I'm sure you know this but companies pay these rights fees out of their advertising dollars. In exchange for that they need exposure. It would be like a company buying advertising time on TV but telling the TV station not to run it. You can't have one with out the other. If you don't want to change the name of your stadium/field, you are giving up the revenue because the companies won't pay that much for nothing in return.

Getting drunk and laid in Cancun or somewhere. I'd have rather been there, too. Hmmmmm............don't remember much of the student population doing that back in my ancient days of the early 1980's. Only the kids of rich parents traveled somewhere other than back home. Oh well, the country is so much better off now (sarcasm intended).

DuPont Pioneer deciding they want to be associated with Bison athletics is pretty huge. Their pockets are very deep and they have competitors who won't want to be outdone.

If so, they do it right

Ndsu84
03-18-2014, 03:57 PM
No, that was a more local company, I believe. That's one drawback. DuPont's beginnings were in manufacturing explosives. Safety is number one priority in every business they have. Therefore they don't support much free booze.
