I've been thinking about this a bit. I think it might just come down to the matchups. I compared the results of the three conference dual meets between the teams. We dominated at five of the weight classes going 2-0, but SDSU was typically better than Wyoming in those cases. Where we didn't go 2-0, Wyoming was always better than us, but they weren't necessarily better than SDSU. But, bonus points are probably a different story.

125 Cox (Wyo) > Gillette (SDSU) > Weber (NDSU)
133 Lavelle (NDSU) > Simms (SDSU) > Woodburn (Wyo)
141 Orozco (SDSU) > MendenHall (Wyo) > Cathey (NDSU)
149 Diamond (NDSU) > Kocer (SDSU) > Richardson (Wyo)
157 Pack (SDSU) > McCulley (Wyo) > Carlisle/Olejnik (NDSU)
165 Monk (NDSU) > Friesth (Wyo) > Brewster (SDSU)
174 Zillmer (NDSU) > Nething (SDSU) > Havlik (Wyo)
184 Stroh (Wyo) > Julson (NDSU) > (Schwery/Ayers) SDSU
197 Woods (Wyo) > Lehman (NDSU) > Hable(SDSU)
285 Knutson (NDSU) > Everard (SDSU) > Harms (Wyo)

Comparative scores mean very little in wrestling. Some teams are very aggressive and take the offense to the other guy or teams are defensive and counter-punch when they see an opening. Coaching styles reflect this.

NDSU will be a good dual team next year with some lower weight redshirts coming in. Monk will be a big loss but 174-184-197 will be stacked. Gilva and Bengtson will be very good in the lower weights.
