They beat us by 17...maybe 34-17 or something like that...it was the 6-5 or 3-8 year I think. Mertens fumbled at the goal line (we thought he was down) and we had a couple of blown coverages. Pat Paschall played great. This year's team would have easily handed Iowa State. Not sure what next year will bring, but stayed tuned, you'rs going to like what you see! Errrr, wait.

Cyclones passing game showed some improvement throughout the year. They will have a new OC (play calling last year was terrible), have a big WR recruit that could play right away. ISU defense was pretty bad all year. The thing that drives me crazy going to games here (vs. the Fargodome) is that there is no home field advantage at Jack Trice....fans only yell on third down and lose interest pretty quickly.

A couple hotels on South University Ave within walking distance of stadium (Gateway Hotel and Conf Center, Holiday Inn). Bunch of hotels lumped together over towards Dayton Ave. The ISU Memorial Union actually has a hotel in it as well, relatively close to stadium.

Long weekend should mean all kinds of tickets available. They sell hillside tickets as well, to sit in all four corners of the stadium. Tailgating is the best thing about ISU games, huge grass lots surround stadium in addition to the parking lots.

If anyone has questions about s*** to do in and around Ames (golf courses, bars, restaurants, etc), let me know.

whats the cab situation like in Ames? we gameplanned about staying close to Aggieville because theres only 5 cabs in Manhattan, and we got burned in Fort Collins by staying away from the bars and fighting with 100s of others trying to get the 10 cabs in FoCo...

If Manhattan, KS has 5 cabs Ames probably has 3. You will wait forever for a cab on a Saturday night. If you want something close to Campustown (Welch Avenue) the Memorial Union at ISU has a hotel in it and is the closest place by far. Not a bad walk to the stadium from there either. Campustown is the closest bars to the stadium, main street has a couple good bars and some really good dive bars (cheap drinks, incredibly shady regulars, small chance of contracting hepatitis...).

Next closest hotels to the stadium are Gateway Hotel and Conf Center, Holiday Inn, and Best Western, all on South University Ave. On gamedays people have to park at these places and walk in anyway unless they want to pay for a tailgate spot.

I stayed at AmericInn the first time down there and in 09 I can't remember where I stayed. There may be a school bus in our group so I have a feeling the Union hotel doesn't have parking for something like that, does it? I noticed there isn't much for eating down by the So Uni area, which kinda sucks if I come in a bus.

Union has a parking garage, and no it probably wouldn't fit a bus.

Pretty much nothing for restaurants on S University around the hotels, most of them are on Duff Ave. Dublin Bay (on south 16th st) has a patio and would be a great place to pre-tailgate in late August, good selection of beer, quite a few tv's and good food for the price. Not far from the stadium either...relative to the other restaurants anyway.

There really aren't any hotels or restaurants across the street like in Fargo. The tailgating more than makes up for it....hell, the scenery during one pass through the student lot in nice weather is worth the trip.

Seller could sell 5K tickets before the game, take the money and bounce. Aint no one gona know for 6 months whether they got ripped off or not.

They don't get paid until the tickets are shipped, delivered and verified by the buyer. They provide the postage and tracking number, I got my KSU tickets with plenty of time to spare last season.

They raise prices for all FB weekends. It pretty common in university cities. Plus there is a big convention--show that week as well.

Wow, that's just horrible. If NDSU put that out I'd be embarrassed. The song is okay, but the singer's voice is pitched too high, he sounds like he's got a mouthful of snuff at times, and the "let's get ready to rumble" is just lame. And you don't need to put the words of the song on screen constantly unless this is an attempt to improve Iowa's literacy rate. Finally, don't put the stupid weather report at the end; it kills the momentum of video. Either put it in the beginning or stick it in the middle with music backing it up.
