The Bison fresh off a win at South Bend vs Notre Dame will now travel to Columbus to take on the #3 team in the nation Ohio State. This very well might be the best team the Bison will have ever faced. Defensively they are off the charts good. They can at times struggle to score but they have athletes all over the court. Our lack of ball handling really scares me, need to somehow manage to limit turnovers.

Go Bison!

ESPN now includes a short Andy Katz video on NDSU's "reward for beating Notre Dame"

He does make an interesting comparison for NDSU, regarding NCAA tournament possiblities,
to Florida Gulf Coast team from last year.....

Doesn't get much bigger than is FCS playoffs on ESPN, UND NDSU basketball, #17 ISU in wrestling and this vs the #2 team in the nation.

I love the mens basketball team, but this game will be near impossible to win. Who will score more points today our football team or basketball team? I consider it a great game if NDSU can finish within single digits. They know Marshall and Taylor are out scorers and will shut them down. OSU will double Marshal and try to stop the post passes to him. OSU is a well coached team and will be #1 in the nation very soon. That being said lets make this one of the greatest days in Bison history and shock the world!!!

Agree. Bad finish to the half, should have stuck with the hot hand Braun. The refs are ridiculous. Call touch fouls on us and let their guys throw elbows. Only a few possessions away from a really close game. Let's see how we respond in the 2nd. But the Buckeyes are really freakin good. Look like an NBA team

Really happy we aren't turning the ball over, only 4 turnovers that half. Obviously shooting poorly but Ohio State does that to you. Like to have guarded the 3 a little better but with our bigs in foul trouble we need to offer help and Ohio State is hitting their shots and making us pay.

So, if someone has an opinion that agrees with you on this team being overrated and your beloved 08 team the best ever, it's an opinion, but when someone disagrees and shares another opinion they're a "know it all"?

That's outstanding logic.

And is likely going to be a 1 or 2 seed. If NDSU wins the Summit they won't be a 15 or 15 seed.

OSU is real good and we just can't match up.

No, it hasn't. It also hasn't been the mainstay of probably 95% of the programs in college basketball. I guess I'm not sure why NDSU is supposed to be an exception.

So, for this year, this is basically all still coming back to the UND loss, considering that's the only game NDSU lost to a team they should have beat.

Well I think that's the difference between a 5 star recruit and 1 star recruit. OSU has outstanding athletes. Those guys are NBA caliber athletes.

I don't think we look like string beans in comparison to teams in the Summit. Certainly not. The SDSU team that was led by an NBA PG the last 2 years and went to the dance were full of string beans. IMHO it's just comparative athletes to comparative basketball programs.

I'm a Jayhawk diehard, and I don't want Kansas to have any part of OSU this year. Their defense is just relentless. I'm honestly not sure how Matta has got them playing like that without fouling. Most of the defensive minded programs like Kansas and Louisville have really struggled with that transition.

I didn't like the way the game was called either. Ohio St. got a lot of calls driving to the basket when they initiated the contact. Bjorklund took a blatant charge down low after picking up his 2nd foul and the referees didn't call anything. It really didn't matter in the outcome tonight though. The Buckeyes had superior talent!

I thought the Bison played well. No team defends as well as Ohio State and they had big advantage in depth. NDSU is heading in the right direction this season and are going to be pretty battle tested for the conference season. Notre Dame is going to move up in rpi and that win will go a long way towards helping with seeding if we win the league.

People love to praise the 08-09 team and they are completely deserving of that praise but they never really had a stretch like @Notre Dame and @Ohio State....hard to say how they would have handled that. I think they could have beaten ND but OSU's athleticism would have given them a ton of problems, really if OSU shoots like they did they are going to beat pretty much everyone in college basketball. To beat or be competitive with a team like that you really need them to shoot poorly from three because it is going to be a struggle to score against them.

I agree. There are alot of very knowledgeable posters on here. ndsubison is one of them, BisonBohl is a great poster, KCBison, NDSUstudent, Hando, Sav (where he go) as well. My favorite posters are the one that backup their opinions with examples.

08'-09' Team was special and always will be. One of the best, most unique players ever at NDSU in Woodside. Probably one of my favorite college basketball players ever. With that said that team didn't have a very strong schedule at all. Their best OOC win was probably Northern Arizona out of the Big Sky - they just didn't have a very strong schedule and didn't have opportunities.

I really like what this group is too. I've followed the team since the 80's, and this is IMO a top 3 group no question in terms of talent that we get to watch night in and out.

Agreed, the schedule we have this year is much better than what that team played against. Our SOS right now is #16 in the country, St Mary's will probably ranked next week. Three of the teams that beat us have lost a grand total of one game.

I do wish that 08-09 team had schedule like this one, it would have been a blast to watch but since they didn't it is hard to make comparisons that some people in this thread have wanted to make.

Can't be too disappointing with a 17-point road loss to what I think is the top team in the nation. Going 2-1 on the toughest road trip on our schedule (Bryant, ND, OSU) is pretty sweet, and it looks like this team is starting to crystallize into the team we expected at the start of the season. Got a pair of half-decent CAA teams coming in, good chance for some last tweaks against quality competition before conference play, and a good chance to get some RPI material in.

My only gripe from this game was leaving them open for 3's too often. That said, even when we were covering them, they were still cashing in. Can't beat a team like O-State when they are shooting like that.

Tough game but loved the way our guys battled. We needed to be flawless and shoot well from beyond the arc in order to win this game and we just didn't shoot well enough to get it done, I do think we got hosed a little on fouls but don't think it affected the outcome too much. Anytime Ohio St. shoots over 50% this year they will be nearly impossible to beat, too good defensively and were just too much. I think they are the best TEAM in the country, they don't quite have the individual talent that programs like Kentucky, Arizona, Duke etc. have this season but they can beat you a variety of ways and that definitely will play in their favor come tourney time. I expect them to be in the Final 4. A couple of big wins at home against Delaware and Townson this week would really prove to me this team is ready to go dancing, following a tough road trip to come home and protect home court is what good teams will do...get out and support this team this week!

The Buckeye's are in a slump, they just fell in Lincoln to Timmy's Huskers. Right now NDSU is their best win.

God win for Miles. I'm sure the fan base likes this regardless if Ohio St is overrated or not.

Great win for Coach Miles! Although Nebraska was 0-4 in the Big Ten prior to tonight. :hide: 8-1 at home though!
