Not as big as we had heard by far but the assistant numbers are what I would be interested in seeing.

The biggest thing is, if Craig Bohl were fired today, his buyout would be $3,750,000. I heard a Wyoming reporter say on the radio the base part of the contract is fully guaranteed.

Can that be right? The previous Wyoming coach had a lower base salary that Bohl does now? I get that incentives are different but that's kinda shocking.

Bohl’s base salary in North Dakota was $206,000, higher than Christensen’s $190,000. Despite incentives for various achievements at North Dakota State, Bohl will make more at Wyoming

Yes.....that is true. WYO was going to upgrade comp.......especially for assistants. There was a lot of discussion that inadequate pay for assistants was a big issue at WYO.

And one of the reasons Bohl was as successful as he was, honestly. Part of the reason his guys want to stick with him...he looks out for them too.

Can that be right? The previous Wyoming coach had a lower base salary that Bohl does now? I get that incentives are different but that's kinda shocking.

It's right. Christensen's base was only $190k. Essentially, he was getting $190k/yr in state funding and a little over $1 million a year in money raised from private donors, the UW foundation, athletic dept receipts, etc. For many years Wyoming was hesitant to increase the guaranteed base funding because those dollars usually came out of the block grant to the university appropriated by the legislature.

From what I've seen of Bohl's contract, the $750k base salary is basically split between state and donor/athletic dept dollars.

Honestly, I'm shocked that we're not paying Bohl more. I expected to see him in the $1.2 to $1.5 million range.

Either way, I'm jealous of you guys...

I don't know....I bet Bohl got his assistants healthy raises from what the previous staff was getting. He always tries to take care of his assistants.

Our assistants' salary pool is going from $1,140,000 to $1,300,000. NCAA rules generally allow 9 assistants on a staff, so break that up however you want and it might show you what assistants will make at UW. No idea how that compares to NDSU.

Well, put it this way, he was only #3 highest paid coach in our conference. Part of that reason was because he definitely wanted to take care of his staff. Seriously, such a great hire and a steal for you guys.

The structure on the season ticket bonus is stupid. Season tickets are $200 a seat so if they're between 4,901 and 4,999 Bohl can just buy the rest of them up to 5,000 with Wyoming's money and pocket the difference. Same deal within 50 seats of any of the other milestones.

Conversely, if you're running the ticket office do you just stop fulfilling orders between 4,900 and 5,000 until you've got all 100 in the door because all of that money is going straight into Coach Bohl's pocket and you're not keeping any of it.
