Brandon's a great kid. Not sure how much he'll help us on the track but he should be pretty solid in cross.

I will be watching for Emma to consistently be in the 18s since her personal best is 18' 4" and she has only broke 18 twice. She also pole vaults a little.

Amanda Levin from West Fargo will be a Bison Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice! Is she going to be able to run track this spring to defend her 100, 200, 400 titles after her knee injury back at the beginning of the school year?

Gotta like a 5-11 sprinter.

She reminds me a lot of Jill Theeler, but taller. Amanda's strength is the 100-200. I was hoping to see her break 12 seconds in the 100 this year, but then she had the injury. I think that she has the most potential to be a staple on the relays and maybe some individual success in the 200. I am not sure how much help she will be indoors. She is related to former Bison Matt Ness.

I can see that since she was under-coached in high school. Ryun will get her into the 55's by her sophomore year. It's a shame not to run the 100 since right now, that is her most competitive time.

Its going to be fun to see where Ryun gets her to be her best at. She has quite a bit of potential and training work ethic to take her far. Year round track training without the other sports distractions of high school and she will hopefully flourish. It all depends though the opportunity is there for her to take, now the work begins (continues). I believe she will help the Bison keep our winning traditions in Track and Field.

NDSU, overall, does a very good of developing its athletes and improving their times, distances, heights. Especially those from smaller schools. I agree with y'all, be interesting to see what the new young women under Mr. Ryan and his fellow coaches.

An article by Chris Murphy on Amanda Levin's injury last year and subsequent return this spring for West Fargo HS:

Levin says she’s back to full strength. At the Packer Relays on Friday, Levin took third in the 100 with a state-qualifying time of 12.72 seconds, but didn’t run in the 200 and 400 after tweaking her hip.

Landon just ran a 47 second 400 at Howard Wood.

Amazing how good some of these times are for being so earlier in the season (times have changed.)

Amanda is doing dang well considering the number of months out she is from a blown out knee. She would give anything to be where she was with times, but a injury like that takes time to come back from.

Yep, Jochim will make an immediate impact for Lars next season! It was nice to have good weather for the State meet for a change, warm but a little breezy. There are some outstanding juniors out there that would be nice additions to Bison Track and Field. Jon Theraldson from Bismarck threw the shot 63'4", and teammate Lyndon Mertz won the Pole Vault at 15'1". For the girls, Asha Smith of Watford City won the 800, 1600 and 3200, and had better times than the Class A girls in the 800 and 1600. Also, Dakota Wood from Hazen won both hurdles and ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay. For a scarcely populated, cold weather state, North Dakota continues to produce high quality Track and Field athletes!

Tharaldson should be a FB recruit. All state WR and 63'+ shotput champ could be one hell of a FB in the west coast offense IMHO
Good BB player as well.

He'll probably be a top 5 shot putter in the nation next year. Hard to fault him if he goes that route.

NDSU getting Landon Jochim is a great win. (anyone know if he has signed? or has he just stated his intent). The men's team has some really good people on it right now.

It has been a great year for NDSU - national championship in football, men's basketball in the NCAA tourney and a win there, women's softball in the NCAA tourney and a win against Auburn, near win against Minnesota there, men's baseball in the NCAA tourney, a 3rd place finish by a wrestler, a former NDSU golfer doing well in the LPGA. I am in awe to some extent.

Jon Tharaldson? With a name like that, there might be some pressure to go to UMary. Edit: Or is his last name Tharaldsen? I've seen it both ways.

He has to be one of the top recruits in North Dakota though. 6-2, 210, plays WR and throws the shot 60' and a good basketball player? Not many athletes around like that.

Beachy savors hurdles three-peat

Jaelin Beachy of Staples-Motley dominated the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a personal-best 14.90 seconds. It was her third consecutive title in the event.

“It’s just surprising, looking back, to think I could do that three years in a row,” said a teary-eyed Beachy, who will run track at North Dakota State next year.
