Late to the party (I mean, it was reported in the Recruiting threads), but he deserves his own thread. Izzo said that he is projected at WR or safety.

A total athlete who will play with the pride we have come to expect from ND kids.
Give him a year or 2 and I think he will be someone that quietly gets it done!

Nice upset victory for Kindred basketball 73-69 over #2 ranked Oak Grove in district 2 finals.
However, Kindred (15-7) may still have to face Oak Grove (20-2) again in the Region 1 tournament
which starts next Monday. Eric Bachmeier scored 23 points and was named to the all-district team.

73-72 was the final score. Sounds like a heck of an ending.

One of Eric's best games of the year at the right time. Plus as projected as a safety, he picked off plenty of passes last night just getting ready for the Green and Gold :)

From yesterday's ND Class B State Indoor Track and Field Meet:

Bachmeier wins the 400M at 53.30 and is on the winning 1600 Relay for Kindred.
There is also a Plankers from Kindred at 3rd place in the shot put at 46' 7".
Jack's brother?

Yes that is Jack's brother, and he's a senior this year. Not nearly the mountain of a man that Jack is, but definitely capable of some college football if he wants to. He's still deciding between NDSCS and Valley if I remember right. Good football player but just doesn't have the size for D1 football as he is only 6'1ish and probably around 260 or so.

6-1 and 260 huh, what positions can he play? Give Coach Kramer a year with him, what's his 40?

Remind me again what the main job of a SS is again?? Unless they are completely changing the normal role of a SS this is not going to be a good fit. Bach has so much natural ability that he has the chance to be a special football player, but the coaches have to find the right fit for him. I hope he's not like Esley Thornton who basically took until his senior year to find a good fit and a home.

We have a coach who knows a thing or two about defense. Give it some time. He needs to be be groomed and built up.

I agree with you, but I've been around this kid for the last 5/6 years. I know he's excited about the opportunity and he will give everything he's got to get on the field and help the team.

I agree with you completely. He is a project and a great athlete. He was recruited by Chris to play safety. My guess is he will learn a ton, get his body right and work just like Jack Plankers has done to give him an opportunity to see the field. He was recruited as an athlete. Hope he can produce on the field down the road. Quite a fun athlete to follow in alot of sports over the years at Kindred.

Eric's had a great senior track season and yesterday was a very nice example of that. Yesterday he won the 200, 400, 110 & 300 hurdles at Regionals and owns the fastest time in the state in the 400 and 300 hurdles. Just as an example of the type of athlete NDSU is getting. About 3 weeks ago one day in practice he practiced the hurdles. The next day he won both hurdles in their track meet and had the best time in the state in the 300 after one day of practice.

Athletes develop at NDSU, perhaps more so than any other fcs team. Please don't go passive aggressive on high school students

That's a laugh. I can't help noticing over on the SS when ever UN_ signs a kid with worse times, you still mush and gush like the kid is the best recruit to ever come out of high school football.

A low 40 is pretty solid in the 300s. It's nothing special though. Get into the 38s and now you're talking.

Well considering the best in the state A and B is in the 39s and last I checked his best is 39.6, he's doing pretty well. Especially considering he's trained for it for only a couple weeks now.

Yes, I don't think its a fair comparison to look at the times this year and compare to other years. The track season has been cut very short and has resulted in ridiculous times. I saw two different regions where the winning times in the 800 were a 2:07 (Dickinson Regional Meet) and 2:14 (Bottineau or Rugby Regional Meet). Those winning times should be closer to 2:00 flat, if not 1:59. Some of the relay times were equally slow. Saturday was the nicest day we've had all year too in terms of relative warmth and very little wind, so times were not impacted by weather, just a very short season resulting in slow times.

Totally agree on the late spring and some slower times. Look for some great times this weekend in Bismarck at the state meet. Forecast is 83 on Friday and 82 on Saturday.

It isn't just this year, class B track and field has gone way down over the last 15 years. The top times are similar to years past, but the bottom of the state qualifier list is pretty sad IMO.
