I know we're in the middle of the season but............what kind of effect will this have on recruiting?

I was just thinking the same thing Gully. I bet most of the high school players in the state of Minnesota were watching the game on tv yesterday. If some of those players are on the radar of NDSU coaches, I dont think that the final score matters that much to them. What it shows them is that there is one hell of a football program in Fargo. In this case NDSU comes out the winner.

NDSU outplayed Minnesota yesterday from start to finish, and that has to be worth something in the eyes of recruits. Big game despite the loss.

No offense to Bibeau, but that game film will be a great recuiting tool for a top notch kicker. Play for the Bison and you could kick the game winning FG against a Big Ten team.

Despite what happened yesterday, I have confidence in having our kicking game in Bibeau's hands (feet) for the next three years. The game itself is a huge recruiting tool.

Sat in the lower tier below the press box and behind the home team yesterday. *There were high school athletes in letter jackets up and down the aisles, escorted by UofM students, all game. *Some of those kids were massive with all kinds of letters on their jackets. *How many of those kids might opt for NDSU rather than the Goophs?

The Fargo South Football team was there. We talked to a couple of players as they waited in line. Great bunch of guys.

Minnesota will always have the recruiting edge on us because they are in the Big 10, but the Gophers cant get them all. Its those guys whose heads we hopefully turned.

That game was much bigger than a DII national championship game, or even a DI-AA title game.

Bibeau is doing better than any other true freshman kicker with this much pressure in a season I have ever seen in college football. When Wilcox left the team, he was handed the key to the kicking unit, and he had never even played a single game snap. He still has three more seasons after this one. I truly believe one of his future seasons may be a perfect one where he makes every kick. I've seen him in practice. He's got an awesome leg.

Also, it wasn't his fault it was blocked. It was a low snap.

Thank you for being a respectful Bison fan and keeping in mind that Bibeau is only a freshman and only human! *How...would anybody be able to deal with that kind of pressure. *I really will never be able to understand what the kid- must have been thinking! *He went out there and did his job- Low snap and that makes his job more difficult. *And too that was a long kick- 43 yards- it is not like it was a 25 yarder- *He tried and that is all we as Bison fans can expect- *
I sure hope that he doesn't look at this being all his fault- They are a team; WIN as a team and LOSE as a team- They all looked liked a great bunch of Champions to me! *I was so darn proud to be a Bison fan- and always will be!
Congrats to the Bison- ALL of the Bison!!!!

I talked with the high school coach at Barron, WI before the game and he said that he has a player that is being recruited by NDSU and Wisconsin among others. His reason for attending the game was to see the Bison in action. He did tell me that as his coach, he was already telling the kid that NDSU might be the best place for him.

We had 4 Edina kids and 3 Cretin Durham Hall boys by us, we had them high fiving us all game, plus afterwards, I was wearing a bison jersey and I had 2 kids from Eau Claire Wisconsin that stopped me and asked me a bunch of NDSU questions.

BOHL will be in every high school in minnesota, and Im hoping every PLAYOFF GAME!!

after yesterday's game, I would rather have the passionate backing of a fan base, then one that has a "FIRE MASON CHANT" for the next 3-4 years of his contract??

I agree. Anyone who wants to blame the kicker did not watch the whole game.....it was one mistake of many and when up against which is still superior talent, you can't make mistakes. The difference in the game yestday was Craig Bohl. While Mason looking confused, Bohl was taking it to them......

What a great game. We will be back again with another 16 gallons next year.....

I'm not even joking....when the bison took the field I almost let a tear drop because I had so much pride for the state, university and the team. If it wasn't for this kicker we wouldn't even have the nine points that we scored; he had all the points himself and I'm really glad he's on our team. Lastly, I hope everyone remembers that the meat and potatoes part of the schedule is coming up in that we take on conference foes I really wish that the next two games at the fargodome are sold out and thunderously LOUD!

Nobody is blaming anybody....Just feel bad for the kid! *I'm sure that if he read a post that said that game film would be a "great recriting tool" for a 'top notch' kicker- Oh, the poor kid would feeling even more sh!ty about the whole deal. *His young and not had any many games to get his 'feel' of being under that much pressure...which that probably wasn't the best game to get the 'feel'- but the bottom line is he went out there and kicked- things didn't go the Bison way- No fault-The Bison played a hell of a game-

Maybe I read/mis-understood what was posted eariler-that does happen-or I just take things too personally about the players. *I do take things a little serious when everyone is just sharing thoughts and concerns-

The Bison showed a lot of people that they deserved to be there- and played that way! *We all knew they could and would! *I sure was proud to be Bison fan (as always) before, during and after the game- Way to go Bison!!

All Bibeau does is kick the ball, he doesn't snap it or hold it or block the other team all he does is kick the ball. I have watched the kick live and saw the replay a few times and I saw bad protection and a bad snap so you can't really blame Bibeau for things that he can't control.

He was a stud on the first 2 kicks he nailed. How cool was that? Coming into this monumental game and nailing those. Also, he was a stud when he rebounded from an awful miss to nail another 40+ yarder.

I think that Bibeau is our guy, what happened at the end of the game was not his fault, and he should be our starter the rest of this year and into next year. However, at the 1-AA level, if you can sign a big-time stud you sign him. I'm not saying we go out with a sense of urgency after a kicker, but if we find some ridiculous kicker somewhere, sign him, redshirt him, and then see what happens Bibeau's last 2 seasons. Bibeau doesn't deserve to be spoken of as being a recruiting tool, though, he did score all of our points Saturday!

It's huge for recruiting!

The Bison got to play in front of 63,000 fans not to mention on Fox Sports Net... Before the game, how many people knew anything about NDSU? They sure do now! That's all KFAN is talking about!

There is only 1 other D-1 school in ND/MN and clearly, NDSU will be looked at in a brighter light. In addition to stealing a few Gopher recruits, maybe we can steal some of the top players who would normally go to Mankato & St Cloud State? Those schools have produced some solid players (Todd Bouman) and it sure beats Juco's from NDSCS. (although, guys like Dallas have been pretty damn good!)

Many of these other kids may choose between starting at NDSU or riding the bench in Minnesota. They could become legitimate stars playing for the Herd. Besides, would you like to compete for a D-1AA National Championship or some 3rd tier schmuck bowl?

I was bummed out when we played Concordia-St Paul, but I'm starting to see why we played them... It gives us more visibility in the Twin Cities area and helps us "advertise" just how good the program is. As for *being D-1, we also got to showcase our team to these new territories over the last few years...

Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Montana, Utah, Louisianna, California, Having 3 games televised helps too. Another huge part of beating the Gophers is kids in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, & Indiana may actually know who we are.

Most importantly, moving to the Mid Con will be huge! Instead of playing stiffs like St Cloud, Augustana, & Nebraska Omaha, we can now showcase our team to the people of...Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan, Oklahoma, and ILLINOIS!

The future looks BRIGHT! *

The performance of the Bison along with all of the media coverage and publicity of the game on Saturday, should really help this years recruiting efforts.

I'll tell you what. If that is the case, I'm not sure (although I know there are some) what reasons there would be to go play for Mason. Get the crap beat out of you on a weekly basis or play for a winning program with a winning tradition with the possibility of playing for a NC in '08. I'm not trying to dis MN here because I truly wish they would become a good football team but, with Mason at the helm, I just don't see it happening.

NDSU could bring some major recruiting coups home to Fargo.

The Fargo South football team chartered a bus to the game and there are at least two players there that I'd love to see become Bison. I'm pretty sure one has been offered by both the Gophers and Bison. (fingers crossed) They have a chance to become a team that will be talked about for years in high school sports.
