I can only imagine how pissed UNI fans must be that McNeese State is #7 right now after the beating they gave them... and they aren't even in the top 25.

It has been a crazy season for Panther fans to be sure.

Two years in a row now that they've been way better than their W/L record suggests.

Their talent just quits when they are down, that's a huge issue. Although it would be really hard to keep wanting to try when you lose 3 games in OT and 4 in a row.

I'm not sure how much quitting has to do with losing three straight in overtime. Seems like if they were quitting they wouldn't be getting into overtimes.

This may have been covered, if so I apologize. I also am not sure if these power rankings were established when App St was cleaning up the FCS...Were they ever ranked in this poll when they went on their 3-peat run?

Yep, haven't played a ranked team but they are apparently #3 in the country. They needed two overtimes to get past the juggernaut that is Liberty.

Going back to a realistic poll now - This poll clearly shows there is only a certain number of teams able to make a run at the championship. There is a big dropoff from #11 to #12, #15 to #16, and #16 to #17. To me that says there is consensus that says the top 11 teams are the ones to watch. 12-15 can pull off an upset here or there, but won't make a big run. The #16 team is probably an anomaly due to some local voters putting them in the top 10 where the rest of the voters realize they are a 16-20 team.

Can a team outside of the top 15 win the whole thing? Sure, but I'd probably bet my life savings against it.
