Apparently Matt wasn't a math major.

Quick Notes: -North Dakota State's comeback was its biggest since erasing a 22-point deficit in a 25-24 win at Montana in 2003.

It's the biggest comeback since 2003 when NDSU erased a 22-point, 24-2 halftime deficit against Montana.

They are both correct. It IS the biggest comeback since Montana. They do not state that the Montana one was bigger.

(with that definition any number of arbitrary dates could have been chosen starting with the beginning of the modern Bison era (when ever they started keeping stats), ie it's the biggest comeback since Tuesday, February 24, 1964.)
