Driving? Flying? Train?

I just noticed I am flying out of Vegas at 1AM wednesday and landing in MSP for a 3 hour layover and then departing from MSP to Wichita at 9AM to arrive just before 11AM. Anyone esle on this flight? Anyone need a ride to manhatten as I already have a car rented? I would head back to Wichita Saturday or Sunday as I then have a direct flight back to Vegas at 7pm on Sunday night.

Most of the same route I will take. Since I could not get a hotel I will stay at my daughter's home on Thur night in Lincoln, ant then 2 of my daughters will join me and wife for trip to manhatten on Friday morning. Will Lincoln to Manhatten on Hwy 77 take a little over 2 hrs?

googlemaps shows the following

Fargo - Manhattan via Lincoln and hwy 77 = 611 miles 9 hr 9 min (this is the suggested route)

Fargo - Manhattan via hwy 75 = 607 miles 9 hr 15 min (this route does not go all the way to Topeka - makes several turns NE of Manhattan)

Fargo - Manhattan via hwy 75 and Topeka and hwy 24 = 628 miles 9 hr 30 min

Fargo - Manhattan via hwy 75 and Topeka and I-70 = 634 miles 9 hr 24 min

i've driven it every which way and the safest, fastest and best is through nubbville. the prettiest way in is to take rt75 at omaha to ks rt36 then west over to ks rt99 and south into manhattan on ks rt13. that gets you the best flint hills vistas bringing you into manhattan from the northeast across tuttle creek lake. but it's out of the way some and not as fast. depends on your timing.

True. I'm just saying if your route takes you to Topeka, avoid Hwy 24. Can't tell you how many times I got stuck behind farm machinery on this road and was kicking myself for not taking I-70. Lincoln south to Manhattan is probably best.
Also, the highway from I-70 into Manhattan is Coach Bill Snyder Highway so there's that....Prime place for a Bison flag.

From Sporting News - K-State v. Texas

In the past three years, K-State is 28-11 with two double-digit win seasons, one Big 12 championship and a 7-7 record vs. ranked teams.

Leading into those same three years, Texas had finished 3rd, 3rd, and 2nd in the Rivals.com recruiting rankings. K-State had finished 63rd, 68th, and 58th.

Texas signed 54 four and five-star recruits during that span - more than half of an 85-man roster. K-State signed three.

Texas has lost five straight games to K-State.

So, are you saying that based on simple logic and/or mathematics there is no way that Kansas State should have been that successful against Texas during that time frame?

there's a couple construction projects in south dakota on 29 and then the one in sioux city, yes. there's also some repaving south of sc. but none are substantial because they're in fairly low traffic areas. omaha is wide open once you get a few miles west of the missouri river i680 bridge - be sure to miss drive time. lincoln i80 project is still in the works but it's only a 5 mile or so stretch left before that's complete. great roadway between omaha and lincoln.

I realize you may be travel hacking, but wouldn't it be easier to drive the 370 miles from Sioux Falls rather than take 2 flights each way to/from Wichita + a 130 mile drive?

373 one way drive 137 mile one way drive? Isn't the choice obvious? :) (Of course, I did just do a bit over 400 miles to fish Devil's Lake, but only because i can't figure out how to use Delta miles on great lakes aviation and those flights are crazy priced so TY points not a good option; and for goodness sakes, I would never fly to GF)

I really detest driving long distances and I have a tendency to fall asleep at the wheel.

By the way, you can fly to MHK on American, but $639/ticket......and no mile options.

Edit: now seeing some 25K American seats if you fly Wed. 28, to Sept 3 if you have other things to do.....too long for me.

Theres no point in flying out of fargo unless you're baller since its 400 dollars. Minimum. Or drive 3.5 hrs to Minneapolis Airport, arrive at least an hr and a half early which puts you at 5...hour in the air to KC-6, probably another hr at the KC airport once you land, get your car etc-7, and another 2 hours to Manhattan from KC-9.

Yep. I drive 5 to 6 hrs one way for the games. This is about the same time commitment. And, I absolutely hate air travel in todays world.

Yep. The air travel of today can't hold a bunch of lit cigarettes to the travel before 1990.

Fixed it for you. :)

After 1990, you had to find a flight of over 6 hours in order to get your smoke on.

Sounds like on the way back from Manhattan we are going to hit up the Nebraska/Wyoming game if its an afternoon kickoff. Hitting up two bigtime stadiums in a weekend? Seems pretty awesome.

Driving? Flying?

Plane????????

Just found out I have access to 4-6 tickets for the game--possibly a couple more. Long story short, a friend who I work with (K-STATE alum) has a few buddies that are giving up there tickets (season ticket holders). Price will be $125 per ticket----don't know the exact location yet---but was told there good seats--PM me if your interested!! I currently will be using at least 1-3 of these tickets leaving at least 4 or 5 available.

Turns out we can't leave the cities until 9ish tomorrow night, so we'll have to stay somewhere along the way, I'm just not sure where. I want to get further than Des Moines for sure, but I don't want to go all the way to KC since it would be 4am by the time we'd get there. Does anybody have suggestions for where to stay in between the two? It looks like Osceola is the best option, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any better suggestions.

So, I go to check in for our flights today, and note that wonderful Delta and removed the seat assignments I kids had. They are still confirmed for the early AM flight, but I am pretty sure the flight is oversold. Poor kids will have to sit by smellier folks than myself. Also wish this was Thursday night, as I'd be angling for a $400 bump voucher.....

How do you find out about the fan busses? are they something that anyone can buy a ticket for or are they private fan buses< I want to send my 18 year-old and a friend to the KS game, but I don't see any information on fan bus trips anywhere.

Is it just Sioux City? I'm heading north in I-29 today. The farthest south I've ever been is Beresford, SD.

Come to think of it, I've never been to Nebraska either. Weird.

There are speed trap cameras both northbound and southbound through Sioux City. They used to alternate one camera between the lanes but for the last year there is one in each direction.
