Sorry, finger slipped, Sep 25th, 2010. KSU 17 - UCF 13

(Excerpt from ESPN game recap)
MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Carson Coffman's 7-yard touchdown run with 24 seconds left lifted Kansas State to a come-from-behind 17-13 victory Saturday over Central Florida, giving the Wildcats a 4-0 start for the first time since 2003.

Delayed by weather for almost 1 1/2 hours in the first quarter, the game was dominated by Central Florida (2-2) for much of the day. But the Knights failed to make good on several touchdown opportunities, and Kansas State took its first lead of the day when Coffman engineered a 13-play, 67-yard scoring march on the Wildcats' final possession...

i suspect you'll be okay with k-state's place but far more impressed with the atmosphere than the building itself. tailgating, student body, band, over all collegiate feel is as good as it gets for a 50k seat stadium. some opposing coaches have been quick to point that out particularly after defeats, including pete carroll and art briles. we'll be anxious to see how you guys assess the environs trusting you will be treated well in the little apple.

It just sounds like some people are saying since they've never won a national title they haven't accomplished much. Sorry if I misunderstood your post. The Fiesta Bowl remark was because your post read like we were a better team just because we won a title. Were we a hell of a team? Yes but I think K-State would've taken care of us with Klein. So how does the General Admission area work (grass hill on NE corner of stadium)? I was going to get 4 seats from a K-state season ticket holder and when they were told all 4 would be singles I opted for 4 general admission. Is the view unobstructed from this area? I assume bring blankets to sit on and get there early as first come first served? When does access to this area open up on game day?

We all know K-State went down a few notchs from last year with the loss of their superstar QB and most of their defense (during the first game this will be most evident). Compare that to NDSU who is bringing virtually the entire team back and will be as good if not better. K-state fans need to get a grip on their own situation. "We are FBS" or "last years big 12 conference champions" doesn't mean squat since much of that team is no longer around.

And you are playing the two time, defending national champions of FCS, And they have nearly their whole team back, And they have at least two players who will be drafted, And they usually win their FBS games, And they have big game experience, And they will bring more fans than you have ever seen from an FCS school.

Man, is it going to be a good time watching the shock and horror of the game being close. It will bring back memories of 2006 in Minneapolis.....

It will be interesting to see how K States defense jells for the first game.

K States defense last year got progressively worse as the season progressed based on the stats. From Sept, Oct, and Nov/Dec (four game blocks), they gave up 357, 326 and 443 yds/gm and 15.5, 18.8, and 29.0 pts/gm, respectively.

However, their FS Zimmerman and LB Walker got hurt in the about 3/4 of the way through the season and did not return. Those are the only two returning starters as near as I can tell, both are Sr now. Based on the stats, they were obviously very important to their defense. With them back to start the 2013 season they may be better than we expect, especially given the influx of JUCOs.

Nothing I enjoy more than the FBS rubes who think the "gulf" is so wide between the two. Sadly, their brains are being impaired by ESPN stories of the FCS teams who need the paydays to continue, period, and don't realize NDSU is a completely different animal.

What are the top three biggest wins in the storied history of mighty k state?

Well, let's see. I'd probably go with:

#1

35-7 victory over 12-0 and #1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the 2003 Big 12 Championship game. OU came into the game considered one of the best college teams in the history of the sport. The average score in their 12 regular season games was 48-13. Their team ended the season with 6 first team All-Americans including the Heisman trophy winner, the offensive and defensive players of the year.

#2

40-30 victory over #11 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in 1998. KSU was ranked #2 at the time and the victory propelled us to #1 in the nation for the first time ever.

#3

Probably last years 24-19 victor at #6 Oklahoma. The victory jump-started our season and paved the way for our eventual #1 ranking again by early November. Considering we were picked to finish 6th in the Big 12.....a pretty good year.

The first two games are givens in my opinion. The 3rd game could be several games.

Who knows. Beating #5 UNI at their place was pretty cool but I wouldn't say it was a monumental moment in UND football history. 2001 title obviously. Maybe winning the Pecan Bowl in 1966 or the 1972 Camellia Bowl. Tough to pick two others.

Who knows. Beating #5 UNI at their place was pretty cool but I wouldn't say it was a monumental moment in UND football history. 2001 title obviously. Maybe winning the Pecan Bowl in 1966 or the 1972 Camellia Bowl. Tough to pick two others.

I would have accepted the time you got to wear "North Dakota State" field access badges at the d II natty. That was pretty special for your vips, and quite an honor for the team.

It's a trainwreck, if that train was carrying nothing but dumpsters on fire.

i like their fans on the Scouts site. The fans on goemaw are just plain idiots. Some of them actually believe we would lose to Texas High School teams. Arrogant morons

Meh, they are in their own little world in "title town." I mean, they have or claim zero national championships and even Minnesota has a national championship so they lose credibility from my perspective lol. Even jayhawk fans talked down to us, just makes it more embarrassing.

Timhawk is my favorite.

It's hilarious when a ku fan is talking shit to an ndsu fan about how bad the fcs is

ok...........so what is their official stadium capacity after the renovation? I think they just added suites, a dining area for players, etc. I don't believe this project changed stadium capacity much.

this is correct. it was meant to add revenue (suites), upgrade press row (top) and add a training table (lower right). $75mm for that. capacity remains at 50k.

53,310 Oklahoma, October 16, 2004 (L, 21-31)

52,254 Kansas, October 9, 1999 (W, 50-9)
52,234 Nebraska, October 23, 2004 (W, 45-21)
52,221 Nebraska, November 16, 2002 (W, 49-13)
52,077 Colorado, November 6, 1999 (W, 20-14)
51,614 Kansas, October 25, 2003 (W, 42-6)

all those are old records, was there more SRO back then? Is north endzone GA somewhat new? If not where are the other 2500+ SRO tickets since only 500 go on sale Monday?

Sorry Sams, I can't answer your questions. Maybe someone else will be able to chime in. It may be something as simple as changing Fire Marshall regulations.

a lot of chatter here about construction. so here's a current view of the $75mm renovation of suites, press box, et al west side on morning tweet from the a.d.

The permanent north end zone seating was built in 2006. Before it was there they put folding chairs there and the capacity was larger. I'm not 100% sure but I think the local fire codes have changed and not as much SRO is allowed now. The focus on stadium improvements has been mostly on increasing revenue with more suites
and not increased capacity.

Maybe one of you KSU posters can shed some light on this. NDSU's seat allotment is going to be in section 16 (based on what the KSU ticket office told me). There's a pretty wide concourse that goes behind this section in the South Endzone. If fans have SRO tickets will they be able to stand and watch the game from the top of our section or will they get booted?

booted to the hillside. but those with corner end zone seats or up above in the corner will have very good views. the only exception would be those in the lowest end zone seats.
