Men in first after day 1, Women in second.

Holy carp, did the fellas dominate the first two events (hammer and javelin.) NDSU scored 55 points on those two events. The rest of the Summit combined scored 23.

Freshman Brecca Wahlund continues to impress... 2.29 seconds off the Summit League record in the 10k... second-best time in NDSU history and she beat second place by a minute. She still is a little over 23 seconds from Nancy Dietman's NDSU record though, but she definitely has the ability to get there.

Looks like two Summit League records fell (Women's hammer and javelin) - and, btw, USD has a lot of young talent on their squads. NDSU is going to have to step it up down the road.

Action started today in Muncie Indiana, and goes through Saturday.

For the men today in the javelin, NDSU had 1st (Quinn Baumann), 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th place to earn a conference record 32 team points in a single event.
In the hammer throw, NDSU finished with 1st (Casey Orgon), 3rd, 4th, and 7th place for 23 team points. It was Casey's third consecutive title.

For the women, Leslie Brost won the pole vault for the 4th time. Freshman Brecca Wahlund won the 10,000 meter race in her first ever attempt in the event and finished with the second highest time in the event in NDSU history.

Heh, Road and I were on the same page.

Didn't know the bit about NDSU setting the record for the most points in a single event. Congrats to Leslie Brost, btw - not many four-time champs in the Summit.

Sam were those the decathalon hurdles. Because Matt Tetslaff runs in the low 14s. Road Becca Wahlund is from your alma mater Minot High her first time running the 10k. Sam I think the 110 finals are Saturday.

Pretty good meet overall on the Women's side.

100m: Antoinette Goodman, 11.68 (.05 seconds from setting a new conference record
200m: Both Antoinette Goodman and Ashley Tingelstad broke the meet record, Antoinette owns it now 23.77
5000m: Courtney Frerichs (UMKC) 16:42.63, cut 5 seconds from the conference record
10000m: Brecca Wahlund came within 5 seconds of the conference record
100 Hurdles: Deborah John set a new conference record, 13.68
400 Hurdles: Two runners, one from USD and one from Oakland, broke the record (crushed it really)
3000m Steeplechase: Courtney Frerichs (UMKC), another conference record for her
4x100: John, Tingelstad, Goodman and Brittany Page set a new conference record, 45.46
4x400: Melissa Kitching, Tingelstad, Page Stratioti, and Page won the meet and came oh-so-close to beating the conference record.
High Jump: Two athletes, one from USD and one from UNO broke the conference record 5-11.5!
Hammer: SDSU woman broke the meet record - almost got to 60 meters.
Javelin: A USD freshman broke the meet record
Heptathlon: A USD junior broke Heather Zander's record

That's a lot of meet records! Just looking at the times/distances, it appears that Summit League records can only be set at the Summit League meet because the 4x400 record, for example, wouldn't even be a top 10 time for NDSU.
