NDSU v. Cal Poly Game Thread

I am in Fargo and can't sleep in, so let's get this game thread going. Current temp in Fargo is 13 degrees........temp at gametime......75 degrees and no wind! OK......maybe I didn't like Dakotah Field as much as I thought I did. I am damn glad to be going to the Fargodome for this one!!!

After a nice 2 hour flight from Salt Lake City (hey, the Big Sky folks said Fargo was hard to get to) we arrived at about 8:45pm last night. I had a burger and beer at the Bison Turf. A shot of 30 year old Laphroig at HoDo's, won $100 on the table at Old Broadway and went to bed.....

This game will be a slugfest. Likely a battle of the defensive units and the key will be what team turns the ball over and gives a scoring opportunity to the opponent. The Bison will need to play a clean, penalty free game to keep the ball moving and score. As I said earlier, a Bison win by 1 pt.

How do you beat a team with tons of speed and a bunch of small defensive players? You run it right at them. Bison are doing that and wearing them down.

That achilles thing scares me, I hope that isnt what it is. Some of the best pro players struggle with that injury, and obviously a pull is better than a tear, but a torn achilles would be just about the worst thing.

You're right, Achilles injuries are very case to case. Some people limp the rest of thier lives if it's bad enough.

I hate to say it, but my connection is fine for a while and then it gets choppy. If it doesn't correct itself, I start it over. If your connection is never any good, then maybe you could adjust your settings (not sure where you do that though).

My GoBison.com All Access video feed is working well. They only give you three options now low, medium and high for video quality and it doesn't tell you the stream speed. I believe the stream speed is around 300 kbps which is far slower than the 530 kbps they broadcast at last season. Last season's video stream was much more clear. They need to work on increasing the stream speed. I was told it is based on what your connection does not what they do, but if it isn't streaming at a high speed at its origin we can't receive it at a high speed.

NDSU will jump over both James Madison (lost) and Montana (1pt win over CP as compared to our thumping) this week and get to at least #3 in my mind. *I think NDSU has demonstrated that they are the class of 1-AA and if they win the GWFC they should end the season #1 out of fairness. They won't, but they should.

They just asked Phil about the 1990 playoff game against Cal-Poly where NDSU pounded them 47-0. I was at that game and I remember it. Cal-Poly stood in the heater boxes from the start of the game and Bison coach Mike Favor was on the sidelines in shorts. I believe Cal-Poly moved up to division I-AA the next year.

If you are referring to the UCD-SDSU game, no I don't think Davis knew what was coming. They certainly expected to beat SDSU. I would say the NDSU had more of a chance to come back against Davis as they are the better than SDSU by all accounts. So in some respects the SDSU loss was more disappointing than the loss to the Bizon.

By the way, home come you guys have to go the the dome 2 years in a row???

Craig Bohl will win Coach of the Year in the Great West Football Conference this year. NDSU versus SDSU for the Dakota Marker and the Great West Football Conference Championship next week at the FargoDome. Bison will finish the year 10-1 with a win next week. What a season. Hopefully the 2008 season is this good.

With James Madison losing, the Bison will at least be ranked at #4 next week. We should be ranked ahead of Montana if you look at it objectively. Montana beat Poly 10-9 at home, the week before NDSU beat Poly 51-14 at home. Both are 9-1, and one of the two teams actual plays tough road games.
