Jack Hoffman is not on scholarship at Nebraska, but he still led the Huskers in rushing at the team's spring scrimmage Saturday...

Nice to highlight the good stories that come out of college sports rather than dwell on the negatives. Story reminded me of the close ties formed between NDSU players and the young Jordan Peterson who is still waiting for lung transplant in Texas.

That is everything that is right in college sports right there. Best thing I have seen all day. Will probably be the best thing I see all month. Awesome.

He's wearing Rex Burkhead's number too. I just mention it because Rex was his favorite player and he's from my Texas home town. Nice kid.

Glad to see this getting shared all over the interwebs!

We had something similar in our last high school game last year. The manager for the home team was a kid with a mental disability. He loved football more than anything so they let him dress for the game. He was introduced as part of senior night in full uniform. After the game was over we lined up both teams at one end of the field and he took a handoff and ran up the middle for a TD. Both teams cleared the benches very similar to what you see here. It was the highlight of my season.

Great story. And after seeing the Nebraska defense try to play last year I believe they were actually trying to tackle the kid.

I think he committed in 2009 so, yeah probably.

And Slick, I think there is a similar video of an 8 year old in a football uniform running from some grown men at Penn State but nobody is going to see it because it was submitted as evidence against Sandusky.

:hide:/sorry couldn't help it.

Word on the street is that Wisconsin is interested in this kid to build on that 70-31 win in the Big Ten title game last year.

So in other words as not to pick on the closet corn husker faithfull...take every single cent "donated" to team makers whipe your ass with it flush it down the toilet...after flushing the first 3 million raise an additional 10 million donate it to cancer research aimed at curing children and then come talk to me...dont get me wrong feel good story what they did good for pr but a couple 13 14 million towards finding a cure is the better approach all day everyday if you ask me...you know what they say put your money where your mouth is

To stray off the path a bit... The Uplifting Athelete's for Life article was interesting as I see both Penn State and Nebraska have chapters. Just a question, does NDSU have any similar programs going on with their atheletes?

Ah, yes. The old "logged into a friends account to bid as a joke" routine. That ones a side splitter.

That should be a no-brainer for a local bar or store with some NE paraphernalia displayed to step in a buy it for the winning price. Great publicity for them, and it would actually be a pretty cool thing to be displayed with a bunch of Hall-of-Fame kit.

And then they could also auction off the "winners" contact info ;)

Agreed. You would think someone would step in and be the hero here. Great publicity for them at this point.
