So only the winners advance to the NCAA's? Also, the kid at 285 from UV has a rather unfortunate name.:innocent:

No. Here are the number of automatic qualifiers for each weight: 125 pounds (4), 133 (1), 141 (1), 149 (3), 157 (2), 165 (1), 174 (1), 184 (1), 197 (1) and heavyweight (1).

There may also be some wrestlers selected at large, but last year only one was selected from the conference.

I've seen this a couple of times. How is this decided? Does the conference get so many qualifiers and then they vote on how they want to split it up based on how tough each weight class is or what?

It looks like the NCAA championship comittee determines how many from each weight class. I think the conference is loaded at the 125 weight class.

Each qualifying tournament was awarded spots per weight class based on current year data. Each wrestler was measured on the following: Division I winning percentage; rating percentage index (RPI); and coaches' ranking.

Here are some comparisons with the Big 10 conference and how many they qualify:

125: 7
133: 7
141: 6
149: 8
157: 7
165: 8
174: 8
184: 6
197: 8
Hwt: 9

Big 10 is a wrestling powerhouse conference.

The video stream is only showing the Wyoming matches (which is understandable), so it appears the only NDSU matches that will be shown are the championship bouts at 184 and 197 versus Wyoming.

For those of us who weren't watching, what was the bad call we're all talking about?

SamsRams

Stoll was called for stalling and went down 4-3. Kish had some words. He then gets a take down to go up 5-4 and at some point in the scramble they give the wyoming kid one point for a clinch. Kish had some more words and there was a long delay. goes to OT at 5-5 and the wyoming kid scored another controversial point. Kish again had words and it was nearly a ten minute delay for the review which eventually went against Stoll.

i am not a wrestling expert and there were no announcers so if anyone has better info i'd love to hear it

From what I remember:

Stoll gets a take down in the first period. He is up 2-0
The Wyoming guy gets an escape. 2-1
End of first period.
Stoll starts 2nd period on the bottom, and gets an escape. 3-1
End of 2nd.
Wyoming guy starts 3rd period on the bottom, and gets an escape. 3-2
(you can sometimes see the scoreboard in the corner of the mat)
Mysteriously all of a sudden late in the 3rd period, I noticed the score 3-3. I don't know how that happened and didn't see any stalling calls at all.
With about 30 seconds left both wrestlers are on their feet tied at 3.
Near the end it appears that Stoll gets a takedown (5-3), but in a scramble they must have awarded the Wyoming wrestler a reversal as times expires (5-5) although their guy was never clearly in control. As time expired from what I could see, Stoll was in control.

I haven't seen any official scoring to explain it.

He is a beast and a team point machine, he won his first match with a 15-0 tech fall.

Getting a tech at the Division 1 level is about as impressive an athletic feat as any in sports. Especially 15-0.

Sounds like Stoll may have gotten screwed? If I had watched I may have been able to add some input. Is there anywhere the match can be rewatched? I could maybe TRY to shed some light on what have have happened.
