@SteveHallstrom: @SaulPhillips says on the show this morning that NDSU will play at Ohio State and Notre Dame next season. #StevesSportsSaturday

This is great news. We need to bump up the RPI wherever possible. Saul also said that we will play 2 mid-majors (including 1 at home). I wonder who the mid-major at home will be?

Hahaha, the danger of hitting the "New Post" button: I read the first sentence and go, "HOLY CRAP!"

Then I read the next sentence and double-checked, "Oh, this isn't Football." Still warrants a "Holy carp!" just not all-caps and the saintly fish exclamation instead of the foul one.

No it is part of an event that the Bison will play in next year, similar to he Progressive Legends Classic they played in this year. The Bison will play four games as part of the event...@ND, @Ohio State, @TBA Mid-major and vs TBA Mid-Major.

Saul said the schedule will be insane...so far we have...

vs Towson
vs Green Bay?

@Western Michigan

Gotham Classic

The event we will be playing ND and Ohio State in next year is the Gotham Classic.

NDSU signed a three year deal with Gazelle Group who organizes a number of these early season events and of course they also run the CBI postseason tournament which NDSU participated in last season.

good. i like oaklands approach of a schedule for the most part. we return everyone and SHOULD be the favorite to win the Summit. Challenege these guys, maybe get a few good wins and prepare ourselves for a good seed

I actually read on the bracketbusters page that since this is the last season of bracketbusters the return trip has to be made next season instead of the 2 year window previously held. Don't know if that's going to end up being the case but that's what it said on ESPN's page. If so, a solid mid-major TBA, Townson and Akron at home along with Ohio St and Notre Dame on the road is a GREAT start to our OOC schedule. Very exciting news. Especially since Ohio St. and Notre Dame both play a style of ball that we compete well against and will have a solid shot at pulling the upsets.

If this game is set and can we assume we'll get a game against the Gophers again? If so, that's 4 high major games, plus Akron in the OOC schedule. With that experience early in the season and with Wolters (SDSU) and Ceola Clark and Terell Parks (WIU) graduating after this season making our conference schedule a little easier it could be a really big year for Bison hoops. This year still could as well and here I am already getting excited for next season. Really liking the schedule so far!

With Denver in the Summit and UMKC gone... plus 4 majors and a couple solid mid majors this could be the highest RPI oppentent average in NDSU history. Things are looking up!! I love the Oakland style of scheduling lets play the big boys we have nothing to lose in those games.

The marketing folks will have to actually market basketball this year. The good news is they should have the product to make it successful.

Southern Miss is very well known. I think this is the biggest game since Kansas State but easily the best team thats come to the BSA. I'm buying my tickets for that one right away. Im actually thinking of buying basketball season tickets because once the shac is built its going to be a tough ticket within 3 years

I do agree we need to step up the marketing

Southern Miss is pretty well respected around the country maybe not up here so much, yes like any opponent, marketing will have some work to do.

What Southern Miss does bring is a good basketball team with a good rpi from a respected conference. Quite frankly this is exciting and hopefully can be done more often.

Good stuff, should see some great competition in all these games. Bryant and Delaware were both fairly solid last year and both made post season tournaments. Obv ND and Ohio State speak for themselves.

We get Delaware at home and the rest are on the road. Does kind of suck we don't get to play in MSG but location is probably the answer to that one.

Did you click on the link?

The Vikings go on the road to play the Bison, an NCAA Division I team, on Dec. 2. The game will be an exhibition contest for VCSU. It's part of a very tough early-season schedule for the Vikings. Three of the first five games include match-ups with NAIA schools that finished last season rated in the Top 10, including defending national champion Cardinal Stritch University.

I don't know seems really weird to have an exhibition game that far into the schedule. We will have played at least 7 games before this game. Looking at past schedules we have never had an exhibition game this late, have always been the first two games. I did see the article, I guess, I just assumed it wasnt the case in my head. Also the wording in bold seems odd to me, I guess it is coming from the VCSU website.

Yeah, it's really weird the way these games set up. It is an exhibition game for Valley City and not an exhibition game for NDSU. It has been this way for Mayville and Valley City in the past. Weird how the NAIA and NCAA allow this. It's not a bad thing just weird.

With the late schedule release, Saul Phillips must be working on getting another quality program to the BSA this fall.

I was hoping UWGB would play at NDSU since we seem to be doing an every-other-year type deal, but no dice this time around:

Not too bad of a schedule with 3 marquee road non-conf games with Notre Dame, Ohio State, and St Mary's. Home games aren't great, but Southern Miss was a decent team last year that won a couple NIT games if memory serves. Should be a solid schedule

This seems like a good time to remind everyone season ticket renewals are due Monday, Sept. 16th.

Good Looking schedule, would love to see one more good home game but its not easy to get teams to North Dakota and even harder when you have a high quality team. Getting closer and closer to the season, cant wait!

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but...what is Viterbo?

In all, I'm a bit disappointed that there's only three DI OOC games at home. Maybe it would be a good idea to play two games a year vs UND - one home and one away, like they did last year with Morehead State.

I think it's a Wisconsin school...or maybe Michigan. One of those Great Lakes states that supposedly in our footprint

The home non-conference schedule is disappointing I agree. Its just really difficult to get teams to come play us in Fargo. Most of the D1 teams that would are in our conference. When you add in the fact how much talent we having coming back makes it even harder.

One team I really wish we could get a yearly game with is Oakland. Unfortunately Kampe hates the travel and weather in Fargo, so I dont see that happening. Green Bay and Milwaukee are also other schools that Id love to see yearly.

Viterbo must be some connection Saul has back home.... I am kind of surprised we didn't get a game with Milwaukee or GB. I guess we already did a home and home with them just recently. Love to see some D1 teams on the non conference, but whatever this is still one of the best NDSU basketball schedules in our history. I wonder what the RPI SoS will be like.

Not sure if there is a connection or not but looking at their schedule they play Valley City State the night before in Valley City. Guessing that may be a major reason why they are in Fargo the following night.

Last year they played North Dakota Schools: Jamestown (2 times) Valley City State and MSUM. They went 1-3 in those games. This is an exhibition game.

Love the schedule this year. Enough blow outs to build depth and enough tough non-conference games to build character and maybe pull an upset.

Pretty good. Around 42% of all DI schools make one of the tournaments. About 58% of our DI opponents made a tournament. I almost screwed up and counted all the conference opponents twice.

If the NCAA didn't pick two of the most ridiculous 4-seeds in history as Louisville and Michigan State I'd say there's a decent chance Delaware could spring the upset. No way it happens against Michigan State but them against SDSU or UCLA I could totally see.

St Mary's beat Utah...they get to go to Williams Arena for their next NIT game.
