Is this new news? It seems like a big deal to me and thought it should at least be brought up here!

Well either we face him this year or next year, so might as well get it over with. Besides, I like when teams try to pass against the Bison! (Assuming he is a passing QB and they would use him as such)

We have ISUR at home as well so maybe that will make a difference. It certainly made the difference when Bomar came to the dome....albeit barely.

COMPLETELY different defense than when Bomar was here...and c'mon man, you can't anoint this guy the second coming just because he was at ISU...there is a reason he transferred to ISUr....

Cereal?

There have been a couple good ones recently in the Valley seems to me. ISU-b had one, but that's all I got right now

There have been a few transfer QBs that have turned out pretty well. Ewu had two in a row that were pretty good. Bomar might be one of the best athletes Ndsu has ever faced. On the other hand, usually one guy is not enough.

Flacco wasn't bad either.

I wish it would've been Steele Jantz who transferred. Greatest non-pornstar porn name of all time.

You are probably right about our defense but I'm not anointing him, just thought our was a pertinent story. I know nothing about this guy at all.

Edit: by suggesting it's a big deal I may have alluded that I thought he was good. It's a big deal to me in that it's news about football in January.

Two of the last three Payton Award winners were FBS transfer QBs.

Oh, I agree, it is a pertinent story. I thought, when you were talking about us being lucky to have them at home, you were saying he was already the second coming...

And how many played in a conference where they actually played defense?

It is absolutely a big development for January and something to chew on. Only time will tell however.

If he turns out to be good, that is good for the conference.

Bring on the competition!!

Bomar has the one good game....against us. For the rest of his tenure at Sam he was pretty mediocre.

It does look like ISUr went the transfer route for a number of positions. It will be interesting to see how it turns out for them. ISUr has been rather hot and cold throughout the last 10 years.

He must have done well enough there, ended up drafted no?

Its Wikipedia, but here is their version: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhett_Bomar)

Rhett Matthew Bomar (born July 2, 1985) is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma and Sam Houston State.
He has also been a member of the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders.

...

Bomar was signed by the Minnesota Vikings off of the Giants' practice squad on December 21, 2010,[6] and made him the team's third string quarterback for the final two games of the season.
On August 7, 2011, Bomar was arrested in downtown Mankato, Minnesota for alleged third-degree drunken driving.[7] He was waived on August 28.

On January 6, 2012, Bomar was signed by the Oakland Raiders to reserve/future contract. He was waived May 14, 2012, following the Raiders' acquisition of Matt Leinart.

He also allegedly received some nice bonuses for 'Salesman of the week' selling imaginary cars at a dealership while at OU.

Well, for a mediocre career type of guy I guess he was pretty lucky to make the practice squad for two NFL teams then :)

But, I am not sure a guy who passes for over 5600 yds, 37 TD and 593 yds rushing in two seasons with Sam should be referred to as mediocre. I think he was injured for half of his senior season as well. But hey, who am I to judge QBs?
