Yup, IIRC a guy named AJ Westendorp (http://www.cmuchippewas.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=3672968) out of Michigan was a QB they went after hard. He decided to go to Central Michigan instead. He threw a total of 4 collegiate passes and completed more to the defense (2) than to his own team (1). He is now a tight end.

Also it is crazy that I don't think the last two FCS Championship Game MVP's even had a rivals recruiting page let alone any stars or other hype.

At this level it's the intangibles that make or break a qb. Leadership, qb instinct, and how he handles pressure. Almost every qb can throw the ball and hand off. Until you get them in camp it's hard to judge the intangibles.

Except the link to him committing that is high quality stuff. It's interesting to go back and see what everyone thought, we had our optimists and SDBison not sure he was pretty down on it... seems he was still pretty down on Brock this year. But Brock the champion still carried the Bison to a championship. Someone else also mentioned that Brock had a good running ability, guess that carried over to college!

You could go back over the last 6-7 years of recruits and see who made it and who didnt. Some players were hyped out of HS and arent with the team anymore. Others who werent heavily recruited have developed. Happens every year.

Which is why it's nice for us as an FCS school to offer partials in hopes that you'll hit a few and lose a few. It all evens out in the end...unless we have a class like 08 haha

Oh so true. In the long run even the class of 08 will average out if it hasnt already. But every year is a different challenge.

I have such a great football mind. My comments the Brock commits thread....

I like the signing. He's got size, wants to be here. This gives us depth that we greatly needed. This will also sets up a nice little competition for QB next year between Jose and Brock. Plus I think it's even a better sign that Lakes isn't impressed. Avoiding the kiss of death from Lakes is the first step toward success.

Just another reason we need to bring back Lakes. How else would we know if these signees are going to pan out?

Brock is an awesome passer, we just haven't seen it for a bit. He's going to get his touch with his receivers back and we will destroy everyone next season. Wentz needs to get some experience too. Kansas won't be able to stop us with our offense as incredible as our defense!

Brock is an awesome passer, compared to us on our computers. If he wanted on my Flag Football team, Yes. We win the league no doubt. Compared to a lot of other quarterbacks, he is not consistently awesome. We've seen some really good performances throwing the rock(UNI 2011, UM 2011) and some pretty awful ones.

Let's just hope he can do his job for one more season and be a part of another title team.
