Clarence played RB and FS. He's big and fast (runs sprints in track.) Youngker is a brand new school, established in 2007, so Clarence might be their first DI football player.

Sorry, don't have time for more.

Yep, he is their first DI recruit.

Might be a little under the radar since he hasn't played much RB.

so where is he projected at NDSU?

Wherever he wants to play? Seriously, I think he has been recruited as a RB, but he looks like the kind of athlete who could play a number of different positions.

Sounds like a great kid. Obviously intelligent from what the article and video have to say.... 6-3.. seems huuuge for a running back but I would love to see someone of that stature at a DB position, and so would the NFL... not saying hes going to the NFL I'm just saying thats a nice size to be in football haha... wonder if they'll give him any reps at WR?

Plug him in after Sam leaves the Herd. By then Smith will be about 220 and a force between the tackles.

Clarence smith has decommitted according to Jason Jewell.

Did I read that right? He has an offer from Utah?

Clarence smith has decommitted according to Jason Jewell.

So he committed and decommitted on the same day? If so he's worse than John Kerry.

A day later. I'm assuming Utah offered so he decommitted. Still shows high interest in NDSU so you never know.

So, what does this mean? Fargo doesn't have a tabernacle? If the kid is this wishy/washy, maybe the Bison are better off without him.

I don't think you can blame a kid for switching so quickly. If Utah had offered next week, or next month, and he had accepted, would it be any different? Because if a prominent BCS school comes knocking, many, probably most, of our commits would head elsewhere.

If he doesn't wanna play for an FCS program that's better than a lot of of FBS programs...so be it.

We'll get other backs of his caliber, or better, who love playing for the Bison.

And this isn't about politics or religion.

If it is Utah, not a bad gig there. Typically a pretty solid program yes?

Yes...and good for him...but I doubt that it has anything to do with religion or politics. Look at earlier posts.

Utah; however, is in the wrong conference.

Yup wrong conference. Something isn't totally right, Dom or Jeff will figure this out today

So if NDSU's first verbal decommitted, would I have to find the other 14 verbal threads and change the titles? Verbal #2 becomes Verbal #1, etc.

Sounds like Utah offered when they were at risk of losing him to another school. Good play by Utah if he's a player they want. Can't fault a kid for saying no to the Pac 12 and a beautiful area like the Utah campus.

If there is one position I'm not afraid to lose a commit at it's RB. We always seem to find the right guys at that position.

Still hoping there is a chance for C Smith to NDSU

From this article, this is "Utes have big recruiting weekend planned"
"Among those making their official visits are Troy McCormick, a back out of Houston, Texas, Gaius Vaenuku, a defensive lineman out of Euless, Texas, Lowell Lotulelei, a defensive lineman and the brother of Star Lotulelei, Sese Ianu, a defensive lineman out of Huntington Beach, Calif., Salesi Uhatafe, an offensive lineman out of Euless, Texas and Micah Thomas, a player out of Galena Park, Texas who is being recruited as a possible defensive back."

No mention of C Smith here, perhaps there are many moving pieces to this story.....

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsutahsports/55637134-59/story.csp

From this 1-16 article -
"Utes hoping to land Trinity players -
Utah's 2013 football signing class could have a significant Texas flavor to it if all goes well this weekend. The Utes are courting three players from Trinity H.S., in Euless, Texas who will be in town on official visits. The threesome, offensive lineman Salesi Uhatafe (6-5, 290), defensive lineman Gaius Vaenuku (6-5, 270) and defensive end Sam Tevi (6-5, 255) are among the more than 15 players who will be on campus"

And mention of a new commit -
"According to Rivals.com, Troy McCormick, a 5-10 back out of Houston, Texas, committed to the Utes on Tuesday. He is among the players visiting this weekend."

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsutahsports/55642030-59/thompson-utes-players-vaenuku.html.csp

Today's Rival's commitment list has 27 for Utah, counting Troy McCormick. He is the third RB.
Utah also shows on Rivals one JC WR, one JC TE and 3 HS ATHL, plus 2 HS WR's (one of whom is 6' 6")

http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/commitments/2013/utah-94

Scout has the Utah commit list at 26, including one of the dreaded "soft verbals" - also not showing C Smith
yet (nor does Rivals)

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=8&toinid=727&yr=2013

To sum up, several of the names listed as visiting are not on the commit lists, so depending on how many scholarships Utah has, perhaps things could change depending on who does what. Every school has to have back-up plans up through signing day.

Listed are 8-9 players Utah is still recruiting, Clarence Smith not listed among them.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsutahsports/55671867-59/utah-utes-lineman-visit.html.csp

From last weekends visits came two commits -

"Utah's big recruiting weekend paid off with two large commitments, with Bingham High's Lowell Lotulelei, a 6-foot-2, 320-pound defensive tackle and Salesi Uhatafe, a 6-5, 315-pound offensive lineman out of Trinity H.S. in Euless, Texas, committing to the Utes."

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsutahsports/55667165-59/utah-utes-lotulelei-uhatafe.html.csp

baseballfan7 posted on recruiting thread how Smith now has an offer from Nevada and that Utah is now a gray-shirt offer. With a new staff coming on board at Nevada, including Coach Hazelton, will be interesting to see how that shakes out. Could be they are casting a wide net, trying to make up for just getting hired.
