If I were to hazzard a guess, Minot. It brought back memories growing up on Minot's north hill.

The B-52s are an American rock band, formed in Athens, Georgia in 1976. The original line-up consisted of Fred Schneider (vocals), Kate Pierson (vocals), Cindy Wilson (vocals), Ricky Wilson (guitar), and Keith Strickland (drums). Following Ricky Wilson's death in 1985 Strickland switched to guitar. Then they added Tracy Wormworth (bass), Sterling Campbell (drums, percussion) and Paul Gordon (keyboards).

Rooted in New Wave and 1960s rock and roll, the group later covered many genres ranging from post-punk to pop rock. The "guy vs. gals" vocals of Schneider, Pierson, and Wilson, sometimes used in call and response style ("Strobe Light," "Private Idaho", and "Good Stuff"), are a trademark. Presenting themselves as a positive, enthusiastic, slightly oddball party band, the B-52s tell tall tales, glorify wild youth, and celebrate wild romance. The band name had long been "The B-52's", until 2008 when they dropped the apostrophe and are now "The B-52s

Didn't they introduce the pilot too between the 3rd and 4th quarters? Minot definitely got a mention there.

It was pretty cool for my father in law as he used to work on them when he was with the Air Force. Here are a couple of pictures I got of them as they flew over.

I have a good friend who graduated from SHSU and at the game last year he sent me a text that said "even your band is better than ours". I think they are impressed by how well we travel and support the team and this year the difference was even greater. Then add in the fireworks at the pep rally in clear view of their team hotel and the flyover coming from ND. They had to think everything was going against them!

Awesome video. When the crew was announced didn't you hear the chant "USA, USA, USA"?

The flight actually originated from Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. The aircraft and the crew are based in Minot, but much B-52 training is conducted at Barksdale, the only other mainland US base to house B-52s. It gives the Minot crews different terrain and targets to work with. Don't want the taxpayers to think that they bore the cost of a cross country exercise as part of a football pregame. Flyovers are much tougher to get than they used to be for that reason alone.

I think B-52's used to fly from Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City. This base is still open and currently flies B-1B bombers. I'm not aware of any bases that have closed there.

I haven't been near the base in forever. It was supposed to be closed or downsized or something I had heard. Forgive my ignorance :)
