The Bison faced some damn good running backs and running quarterbacks this year. Who's the best?

My vote goes to Breitenstein of Wofford.

This, unless Mckinnon counts as a RB instead of QB.

Triple option with McKinnon at qb, Breitenstein at FB, and Flanders would be unethical

Breitenstien wouldnt have put up 40 yards had the coaches been given 3 weeks to prepare as they did with SHSU!!

Zenner was the best RB Bison faced all year!!

I would say Breitenstein - Wofford, we didn't have an answer for him, don't think we ever tackled him for a loss. Thankfully we had just enough offense to force them to go to a passing game late. McKinnon (will consider him a RB) of GSU also was very good I would put him and Zenner in the same slot, although could make an argument to drop Zenner down since he didn't even get 100 yards in the two games combined, but probably would have done well if he'd been part of a TO offense as the others were.

Did you forget purple font? Bell hasn't been able to do anything against the Bison in either championship game.. and has ended up "hurt" in first half of both games. Kid is a nifty runner if he can find the open field but once he starts getting hit he can't be as effective the rest of the game. If SHSU could somehow protect him (pretty tough in the offense they run) he would do alright.

I have to disagree. Breitenstien is ten times the player Zenner is. His footwork and agility for a huge guy makes me wonder if hes a robot. He was hard to tackle with 2 guys

Agree 100%

I thought Dominique Swope was good as well. He was a tough runner. He was responsible for about 4.5 of the 18 heart attacks I had while watching that game.

Zenner was the most over-rated RB the Bison faced all year. He didn't look elusive or dangerous, and I didn't get the feeling he could take it to the house at any one time in either game we saw him. And Bell was 10x the RB Zenner is.

Zenner had no flash. Could have just been he didn't have holes to run through.

Zenner, Bell and the dude from Wofford. Studs.

Bell was just plain scary, we could not get enough guys to the ball. BStein about the same.

Best: Bell, BStein
Next: Swope, McKinnon
Good but under control: Flanders, ZZ

Breitenstein and Swope. Swope for his toughness and versatility.

Breitenstein has NFL written all over him. He's a mean mother.

Breitenstein gets my vote, it was known that he was going to get the ball and we could not stop him from getting yards (we did keep him from scoring which is a huge feather in the cap of the D). McKinnon would be a close second as he was able to get yards and score but had a better supporting cast around him, I was not impressed with any of Woffords other backs.

Breitenstien was the most impressive I've seen all year. I just felt helpless watching him plow forward for 5 yards at a time and then the occasional burst for 10 to 15. Solid and consistent, and he never went down on the first hit. His balance was unreal for a guy that size.

Jesus...he had 2 freaking runs. Bell is so overrated on this board its insane

Breitenstein and its not even close for true rb..mckinnon if t/o qbs count. Eb was an automatic 4+ yards every touch. False starts would kill any wofford drive

Fail. You missed the sarcasm. And Bell runs an option offense...so QBs can be considered. Someone already thought we were talking about SHSU Bell.

Yeah, he definitely meant Shakir Bell.

In watching the games against shakir bell the last two years there's no one else on other teams I've seen that worries me every time they touch the ball. That is all.

What he didnt do against us was in direct correlation to the fear of what he did against the other teams.

I thought Brown from Prairie View A&M was pretty solid....

The dude from Wofford was the best IMO. Reminds me a lot of Ajax running the ball in HS back in Leeds.

well when the other teams have defenses as good as NDSU's, I'll instill my own fear in him. Until then, he hasnt hurt NDSU at all besides closing the game this year

So you dont think he was a major concern when they were putting together defensive schemes?

I was fortunate enough to work an NAIA playoff game this past weekend. A running back for one of the teams had a very familiar name, but i didn't think there would be chance I would know it. The school was from Georgia. When I got home I looked at the program and saw his previous school was Georgia Southern. That's when it hit me. I had to look back a little, but it was 2011-12 when he played at Ga Southern at the Fargodome. He was an all-american on some lists in 2012. He got hurt early in 2013 and then had an assault arrest that led to his dismissal from the team. He was on the roster at West Alabama in 2015 but only had 3 carries. He had 500+ yards this year at Reinhardt University as a 3-headed rushing monster for the #1 rushing offense in NAIA. He had 10 carries for 27 yards on Saturday. They have a decent chance to make the finals as the #3 seed.

That dude was handicapped by his coaching staff and untimely injuries when playing the Bison.

Why is this kid not in Grand Forks? Nevermind, he isn't a WR. My bad.
