Used his regular redshirt as he played as a true freshman. I believe a "medical" redshirt is only granted to get a 6th year of eligability. He has 5 years to play 4, he will have 2 years remaining in the 5.

Would it have mattered had he redshirted as a freshman?

Yep, because he would then have been in his 3rd year of 5 leaving him only 2 additional years of eligability as a redshirt sophomore, therefore requiring him to petition to get a 6th year.

No, it isn't a "regular redshirt" season for Heagle because he appeared in 2 games. You can't use a "regular redshirt (5 years to use 4 years of eigibility) if you play AT ALL. Heagle will have to apply for a medical hardship, but again it is a no brainer in his particular circumstances because he meets all of the criteria.

Watching the replay on the DVR and noticed after M. Williams last INT Heagle gave M.W. a big hug on the sidelines. What stuck out was Heagle was wearing a headset so great for him to be able to help the team with his observations and teaching / learning at the same time.

I think this could be a lead into for a new nick name for Heagle.

I think it sounds like a better nick name for Travis Beck. Since 52 is his number and all. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to get Heagle back next year. That back end is going to be scary good with him, Dudzik, Shepherd at safety.
