IPFW -------------------------------------NDSU
Record: 8-9 (1-2)--------------------------Record: 12-3 (4-0)

GameDay: Thursday January 10th
Gametime: 7:00pm

The Bison are off to a tremendous start and are playing a very high brand of basketball. Now that the football team has delivered a Natty Tittle for the second straight season its time to get behind this basketball team and enjoy the success that it can bring. IPFW is led by star Frank Gaines who averages almost 20ppg.

Today's KenPom rankings have North Dakota St. at 39th. That's 5 below Illinois, 3 below UNC, 1 below NC State, & 1 above Iowa.

GO BISON!

I must say I was very pleased listening to the USD game on the radio on the way to Frisco and also with the result of the UMKC game. Domination on the road in league play is something this team has not done before and I now fully belive this team is for real. Interested to see how we match up in the WIU game coming up and Oakland could be a test on Saturday but I really think it's a 3 horse race this year with us leading the way. Sure SDSU lost to USD this weekend but with Wolters leading the way they'll be tough in March. Let's get this sweep at home and keep the energy rollin from Frisco!

Am I the only one here who considers NDSU 11-3 because of two non-DI wins?? ESPN.com is even listing overall standing vs. DI teams only for every team.

Its all the same, right? By the way, did you see the great game between Michigan State and Nebraska last night from Chysler in Lansing? The Spartans in their maize and blue finally pulled away from Miles at the end. I think the Michigan Spartans are #1, and Izzo is a damn good coach, hail to the Victors!

Out of curiosity, checked for Frank Gaines on NBAdraft.net's top 100 list for 2013 draft, but did not find him.
He has the second-most career points in IPFW men’s basketball history. His shooting % are not too good on this year's stats (see above)

Got a little ugly but a win is a win. Not to be a downer but this was about the point of the year last year where the wheels fell off. I don't think that's going to happen this year. Team is different. They play much better defense. That will allow you to win sometimes on an off day.

Got to see most of the game tonight. Glad someone here posted it was on FCS. HD would definitely look nicer. I was flipping back and forth to the Pacer game and the difference is significant. The Bison looked good. The best part is everyone is back next year. I'm hoping to see them next week when they are in Indy.

Fun game to watch, Bison just have to much balance this year and its nice.

I was impressed with IPFW, they really made strong cuts and came off screeens well. They play that way they will win some games. They did settle for a lot of threes though.

Marshall Bjorklund is just a beast, just makes winnning plays. His effort late in the game to save a ball and come back and score was big time, have to love his effot.

I thought Korey Brown may have played his best game of the season. Held Gaines to 12 points, had a presence on the offense and made smart decisions. Kudos to him.

Tray was flying everywhere tonight, man can that kid soar. He had some monster dunks to get some energy into a pretty dead BSA. His length on defense is huge as well.

Braun and LA are just solid as they come.

The technical on Braun was just terrible.

Oakland Saturday afternoon at 4, hopefully the weather cooperates and allows for a nice crowd.

Nice win! The Bison came ohso close to blowing out the 'Dons starting off the 2nd half. Their players looked ready to find the bus to Brookings. Their coach gave his players some energy by going to that half-court trap.
Good job by him. It lead to 3 3pointers in a row for Fort Wayne. He did the Bison a favor by exposing a weakness, the Bison's handling of that trap. Saul can work on that before Oakland gets to town (hope they make it to Fargo on schedule - winter weather in the Dakota's, it may arrive yet!).
Love how when LA penetrates, he and Trayvon really can make that a spectacular game. Tray had a couple of big blocks on D as well. And more improvement from Brown - nice freshman year. One little mistake he can learn from is on a drive from the right wing, he put it up with his left hand - right into a block. If he had switched hands - may have still scored.

Huge props to Kory Brown, kid filled up the stat sheet last night, handled the ball well, made good, smart passes and held Gaines to 12 points. GREAT WORK!!!

A couple things that haven't been mentioned:
1) This team now has leadership. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but after those 3 consecutive turnovers turned into 3 3-pointers by IPFW, we broke the press and the LA threw a lazy pass to the wing trying to hit Felt that was deflected out of bounds. Taylor got in LA's face pretty hard about that telling him to pick it up. It's that leadership that has kept this team from letting games like this crumble and turn into losses, instead the guys took the punch to the gut and countered and held on for the W.
2) This team is scrappy! These guys WANT to win BADLY. They are flying all over the floor, Taylor was on the floor twice in one defensive possession going after the ball. The hustle shows in our defensive stats and that will to win will take us a long ways.
3) Listened to the post game show on the way home and they had Tray on, they asked him about how sitting 10 minutes of the first half affected him. He mentioned that it makes it hard to get into a rhythm shooting and so he focused in the 2nd half about trying to be more productive around the rim. IT WORKED, why is this his attitude the whole game every game!
4) I think the student section should be shown a video of how the football team represented the student section during the SDSU game, they sat the whole game until the last 3 or 4 minutes, didn't do the little finger thing that even Bohl was doing during free throws and just seemed uninterested. Need them to lead the rest of the crowd.

It got a little ugly, but we got the W and moved into a tie for 1st in the Summit. HUGE game against a very tough Oakland team on Saturday, hopefully the weather won't keep the crowd away should be a full house.

Great post above from bisonfan08. I am glad people are starting to recognize what Kory Brown brings to the table. Kory has been a big reason why the Bison having been tearing up zone defenses. He has a knack for flashing to high post, catching, and then distributing very well. His defensive skills are obvious, and although he is is not a primary scorer he isn't afraid to score when needed.

LA and Taylor are both showing tons of leadership. Marshall has been a beast. Tray is an absolute game changer on defense. I could go on and on right now, but everybody is doing their part, they are a TEAM, and I am very happy! Go Bison!!
