He breaks tackles on every run it seems like. Rarely has room to run but when he does he has game breaking speed. You can tell Roehl has been coaching him. Keeps his hips square at all times, plays low, keeps his legs moving, and punishes defenders and has quick feet and good straight line speed He could play running back if needed but I think he has the skills to be an amazing linebacker. With his speed and ability to shed blocks, wow! He's 6' 200 right now and has the potential to get bigger. I can see him at sams.

If a kid is scared of cold weather then he will never be a Bison. Mental toughness is a requirement. Most NFL teams play in the north so if a recruit has pro ball aspirations then proving they can thrive up north is a bonus imho.

Read somewhere on here that he runs a 4.7 40. While that will very likely improve, I am not sure he is going to have the speed to be a featured back. Perhaps a bruising FB like Grothman (about same size/speed as Grothman when Grothman came in)??!!? Otherwise, our current LB's are right at about 6 feet, so he could easily play ILB or OLB IMO. Seems tough as nails and likes to hit, and he will have plenty of speed for those positions if he can get himself in the 4.6's.

I think it depends on his burst more than his 40 time. If he's got a good 10 yard split, he could be very effective.

True this. Roehl and now Zenner both had/have a great burst that helped them get past defenders. They see a hole, they plant their foot, and then they get shot out of a cannon.

And I would guess Zenner is in low 4.6's or high 4.5's. Gotta have at least that kinda speed to by a featured back in our current O. Now, when Stark was here, he was a beast up the middle muchlike Mr. B from Wofford, and I know Stark was in the low 4.7's to mid-high 4.6's.

I wonder if the most wresting wins at Concordia is Barry Bennett, a national heavyweight champion that I often had to block against in football practice at Concordia back in 1977 when he was a Senior defensive lineman and I was a Freshman on the O-line. Barry went on to play 11 years in the NFL, I believe at Saints, Jets (started when Jets lost in AFC championship game), and Vikings.

I would bet that with today's advancements in working out he could improve by .2 and put on 15 lbs of rip. With that speed and size he could play both LB or RB. Heck in my college days at Tennessee I went from just a hair over 4.6 to a 4.44 and that was 25 years ago. Either way CAS you are right, he would be a prototype OLB in our system.

This last weekend, Chase Morlock placed 2nd in AAA 195 pound weight class at the Minnesota State High School League Wrestling Tournament. Last year, he placed 1st at 185#. His record this year was 42-2. He lost to Tommy Peterson by a score of 3-2. Tommy has committed to wrestle for the Bison.

NDSU has two great Athletes arriving next fall.

rereading this thread, i think it's worthwhile to point out that the all time ncaa td leader, ran a 4.6 this year. With college conditioning i don't think there is anything to worry about.

Barry was a man amongst boys in that conference. Would have been a star at NDSU.

Saw him in his first game as a freshman. He completely dominated then. It was laughable.

Would have looked great in a Bison uniform.

I was in Rochester, MN a few years back for a wrestling event and was talking with one of the local organizers about the Morlock family that's from the area and I asked him if Kasey was related to Chase. I believe he said they might be cousins.
