Dont understand the GSU, NDSU bickering on AGS

I don’t understand the bickering between GSU and NDSU fans about last year’s game. NDSU won fair and square. What we have here are two impressive teams currently ranked #1 & #2 in FCS. The #1 team at the end of the season, however that may be, has some bragging rights & a great position in the playoffs, but unlike FBS it’s only the beginning. The real #1 has to prove itself against many different offensive & defensive schemes, philosophies & player talent. This is 2012, a new year, and no one has proven their metal or anything else until that win in the playoff system. While GSU & NDSU fans are bickering about last year there are plenty of team that will participate in the playoffs this year that will be capable of giving both teams a run for the crown.

GSU has its 6 undisputed FCS championships and NDSU deserves the respect of FCS for their undisputed 2011 championship that they earned through great coaching, executing their offense & defense against all comers and the talent of their players. Their win just adds to FCS history books & once more shows why the FCS playoff system is far superior than how FBS chooses their champion.

As a GSU fan though, if by a little luck and hard work GSU was to face NDSU again in the playoffs or for the NC, remember Bison fans that GSU will be gunning for you and hell is coming with us!! ;-)

I don't spend much time on AGS. Way too much bickering.

The NDSU/GS stuff is not surprising. It's also disappointing. The fans of the two programs should have more respect for each other.

I think some of our fans are a little hurt that GSU fans were talking epic beatdown before the semi final game last year. That results in maybe a bit extra gloating about the outcome of the game. BTW, that game was a perfect example of how things can get out of hand when a team takes advantage of a few turnovers.

Maybe some GS fans are getting a bit touchy about last year's result getting brought up over and over. This is, after all, a different year. Not unexpected. After all, look how we treat EWU fans who remind us of 2010.

The two threads over there were started by GSU fans. But I have my doubts they are really GSU fans. Most likely they are trolls from a fanbase which doesn't like GSU or NDSU. The responses are from legit posters which have been dragged into the fray. Take your pick who's behind it, there are several to chose from. That's my theory anyways.

For the record, I have great respect for Georgia Southern. They are a "program" as they say in the business. I think most Bison supporters would agree but there will always be a few that have to talk smack. Like that B1SON guy on Bisonville, always starting something!

I think the bickering and trolling are due in part to the collision course both teams are hopefully on. Both teams want to prove last year was not a fluke.

Some fans of the traditional FCS powerhouses are just mad that there are more good teams out west than there used to be. Then again, I'm sure they get sick of some Bison fans trying to bring NDSU into every single thread.

I don’t mind smack talk and enjoy it myself but I don’t like it when the other team has to make excuses for their lose. They are probably GSU fans as misguided as their thinking is. When I first noticed that NDSU made the playoffs I didn't think you would have made the National Championship game let alone win it. As I followed the scores and read your defensive states against playoff teams I sat up, took notice & my brother and I said these guys are for real. I still thought that we would beat you in the semi's but you proved me wrong, the key word is PROVED. I'm now a psudo NDSU fan. Still I hope for a rematch to settle the score and beat some bison rump as big as it is.

We went for 2 against Furman when the game was well in hand. Furman fans raised cain about it but our kicking game is lacking.

overall i think *some* GSU fans seem to have a very entitled attitude. I'm not saying that GSU is a bad team or program or anything close to it, but fans of a team that will at best go 9-2 shouldn't be acting like they are owed the #1 or #2 seed, especially with multiple excellent potential 10-1 teams left out there. If GSU wasn't named GSU we'd be talking about whether they would be getting seeded at all.

Since I don't go on AGS, my only exposure to GSU fans has been on this board. By and large I don't have an opinion of them, but I would echo something reformedUNDfan said about entitlement. Some GSU fan came on here last year (with good intentions I'm sure), and wrote a novel of a thread starter entitled, "A little history about our school in case you don't know..." or something like that. Then most of the thread was about some Alabama coach?

I don't know. I guess I don't totally understand going on other teams' boards and starting threads like this, but that's just me.

I love that movie. It’s my favorite Western at this point. I’d trade it for a recording of a GSU win in Texas this year.
Maybe we could name it “My Buffalo Hide TEEPEES on fire” or “RAW HIDE” from the butt kicking you’re going to get or getting away from the western motif we could call it “The “Eagle Empire Strikes Back” not in a Star Wars way but in a Sweetie Gladiator kinda way.

Anyway, I dont really know if GSU has the fire power to reach the promised land.

I live in Tuscaloosa, and we were having some landscaping/repair work done after the big tornado we had last year. I'm sure the landscapers were under the impression I was not pleased with their work, as I paced throughout the yard, cursing like a sailor during the commercial breaks.

I don't go on AGS either so my only experience with GSU fans is either on here or in person from the game. Many on here know the story but the day before the game, i was working the day shift dealing cards at one of the local casino's. Normally we are pretty slow during the day but that day, a group of GSU fans came and filled up my table. It was still one of the most fun days i ever had dealing cards....there was smack talk, but it never got out of hand and I made a killing in tips. Turns out, 2 of the guys were the head of the GSU Athletic foundation ( our version of Teammakers....i'd suppose the same position as Pat Simmers). So, Talons and other GSU fans, my experiences with fans at the game was postivie and your booster club leaders were also very enjoyable.

P.s. i might add that while they were waiting for their shuttle to the RAddison, i was outside chatting with them, and 2 of them had to go inside becasue it was too cold...even with their jackets on. I was in a short sleeved shirt and just too damn impressed that on Dec. 16th at 5:00 PM it was still 27 degrees that i could not be cold.

Well I'm sure we both have to agree "You Have To Play The Best To Be The Best"! That what’s great about the FCS playoffs, your wins in D2 & lasts years FCS NC's. Not only do you have to polish off your side of the bracket but then defeat the best contender from the other bracket. No matter who GSU or NDSU plays they will have “earned” their way to the National Championship. If so lucky as to get a chance at the title game I’m sure that NDSU fans want to play the proven best whoever that may be. If that’s GSU or if not I’m sure that whoever you play will be the best FCS has to offer and will excite your fans. ( That’s right I TALON think you have a better than good chance at the National Title SHAMEFUL)

If they keep playing like they are now we may see the Bison get knocked out early in the playoffs. GSU or Mont St is my prediction for the NC this year.
