Sorry, but if this happens I know that you and I had better treasure conference championship because, in my lifetime at least, the only Division I National Champions banners that'll be hung in a Division I NCC arena will be over a sheet of ice.

I remember after the last time we played them in football some UND fan laughing and taunting with "Good luck in DI". I have wished so many times to be able to see that guy again and throw our success in his face.

I'm perfectly happy having NDSU live in Div IAA obscurity. It will rob their program of local talent as well as $$. Far away games against unfamiliar teams will add to the decline in fan base. It's going to be a tough decade for the green n gold, and they know it.

So does ndsu have the last laugh or the first laugh or is this perpetual laugh factory?

FWIW, I thought that the UND fan board reaction (from most of them) was more realistic and fair than the Herald ever managed.

It's basically this, but with laughs instead of blue dots:

I thought moving to DI was a mistake when it was announced :hide:

To be young and dumb again...

I read through that entire thread during Geology today. It is nuts how much uncertainty there was back then.

I was all for it, not even a little against.....I have no facts to back it up except I knew we could excel.....should have happened Yeats before

I guess we must be one vicious lap dog...

Did anyone notice the D-IAA power Southwest Texas State visited the Goofers yesterday? Got beat 42-0 but will receive $280,000 for that drubbing. Are the NDSU Teammakers going to put up with being a "real" D-I school's lapdog in order to pay the excessive bills for D-I? I sure can't see that being what a person would call "progress".

More from the same guy...

Exactly. NDSU will become the next Southwest Texas State and go to the Metrodome for a 42-0 whoopin', all for the $280,000 pay check. But, hey, at least the Bizon are DI. What kind of a sell job will have to be done on the Teammakers in that scenario?

Regarding your assessment that the local players will be going to NDSU on "full scholarships", I hope that happens. But realistically it can't if the Bizon are going to be competitive at the DIAA level. The talent isn't there. A player such as Jeff Boschee is NOT going to attend NDSU just because NDSU is DI.

If you really want to kill some time and look back at the speculation and mystery of the move to DI, check out the Divsion I/FCS News forum and change the display options at the bottom to display all threads from the beginning and not just the past year.

Here's thread 1.0 on the subject- http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?6005-D1-Decison-Tomorrow&daysprune=-1

FWIW, "Guest" on that thread is JBB.

So I read through a few pages of the forum linked above and now have a better understanding why the North Dakota legislature is so reactive rather than proactive, with the number of legislators that either attended or graduated from up north. Either its in the water or the curriculum.
