A prospective student just informed me that we are charging $17,000+ a semester. Can that be true? I checked the website and it seemed to confirm it. I hope I heard wrong and read wrong.

http://www.ndsu.edu/admission/cost_tuition/cost/

The costs there are per year, for full-time students.

Base tuition (excluding meal plan, room and board, etc.) runs from ~$6,000 for ND residents to ~$16,000 for non-residents.

With everything included, costs run from ~$14,000 for ND residents to ~$24,000 for non-residents.

I think you're on to something, Tatanka.* However, that would be the cost per pound in his case.

Is the mis-spelling of Tatanka's name a sign of disrespect...or an innocent slip of the finger*

I had done that but didn't read it carefully enough. Only non-resident students are eligible for this reduction if I am reading correctly??

That would make sense.

Pretty sure its 150% in state cost.

Children and spouses of North Dakota college and university graduates may be eligible for reduced tuition at NDSU through the Alumni tuition incentive program. New undergraduate students who are otherwise non-resident students and are residents of states or provinces not engaged in a reduced tuition structure are eligible for a tuition rate at 150 percent of the North Dakota resident rate. To qualify, list the institution on the Application for Admission.

Since this is titled "Tuition" no, unless they aren't from the good half of the US. In ND full time tuition and fees for 2 semesters is around 7 grand.

Boy have times changed.

In the late 80s my tuition for 1 quarter at NDSU (12 credits and above) was $432......about $1300 for the whole year.

And an 80 hour college student paycheck was $250 bucks. And on wednesdays cheeseburgers were 40 cents at mcdonalds and gas was 99 cents a gallon.

Also, NDSU operates on semesters not quarters. Things have really changed. :p

Close....I worked at Menards for like 5.50/hour.

Tuition is almost 10X what it was then.....gas is not 10X or anything else...

10x isnt really fair cause you are comparing quarters and semesters.

You took 3 for a standard academic year, we take 2.

At a quarters rate it is 2024.55( I am pretty bad at math but I think I did this correctly), which is more like x5 what you paid not 10.

Which would make gas 4 dollars and change per gallon. Pretty close to identical inflation, especially if you consider gas being watered down with ethanol in the modern price.

Ya, you're right.

Just shocking what it costs now for students. Both of mine will be in college in 2 years.....cannot wait to get the bills....

NDSU is also a better (Academically) university now then it was then. Especially when talking about research.

The change happened when I was there. There was lots of talk of demise since all the farm kids couldn't take off an entire semester to help with harvest or planting. I guess it turned out OK.
