NCAA deregulates texts, calls to basketball recruits

Obviously this is a good thing, however..

Ok so lets play devils advocate here. My KID plays for Podunk SD, I do not make lots
of money, my kid does not have a cell phone.

Does this put him at a disadvantage to the big school rich kids?
Can I now SUE the NCAA?

Where is a good attorney when you need one :)

Kelvin Sampson should be able to give you the name of the attorney he'll be using.

I can see that happening, and what if they do not have a unlimited texting plan.
I can see if being great for the kids and coaches, and in some cases really bad for the athletes.

In my opinion, this was a rule that needed to be in place because it was and WILL be abused. The NCAA in it's infinite wisdom, eliminated one of the rules that actually made some sense and made the recruiting field level. Sit back and wait for the NCAA to flip flop on this as soon as you see the story about a prospect who had a $2000 text bill that a booster just happened to pay for him......

Also curious why this is basketball only (Good question PL)
