There has been no press at www.gobison.com or in the Fargo Forum this year on this great 800m runner and former Bison. Her goal is the Olympic Trials, and I suppose making the Olympic Team. One has to be a bit of a sleuth to get news on her progress. I will post some here, but if y'all know some, please add.

Maybe we can show our support for her in this way.

Pretty good link on historical progress on this Diamond League link:
http://www.diamondleague.com/athletes/14402373.htm

I believe she ran low 2:02 this year, so this Diamond League link might not yet be updated (as of this posting).

Here are couple of interviews:

and her pre-Festival of Miles interview:

Here is a video of her latest race - the Elite 800m for women at the Festival of Miles

In the 2008 trials in Eugene Laura made it to finals but clocked 2:05.01 finishing 10th. The top 4 finishers were well under 2:02.00. (4th was 2:01.30)

That's where a gal will need to be to have a shot at going to London. And, in order to make any noise over there it's gonna have to be sub 2 minutes.

Hopefully, Laura is ready to roll.

Thanks for the info. Interesting stuff. I hope she is ready as well. Love to see a former NDSU athlete make it to the Olympics.

There are a few videos 'out there' of some of her races over the last year or so. It appears that Laura likes to run from the back of the pack for most of the race, left me the impression that she may need to more aggressive that last 300-400 meters to put herself into a better position to place high and get a great time. I know the quality of competition is pretty high, so maybe it is a lot tougher to 'get into position' than I think. Regardless, I hope she makes it to the Trials and has the best races and times of her life there.

After a few days, one cannot view Fargo Forum articles ... should we post part of the article in these blogs, so they remain accessible? Anyone know if there are copyright issues with this? Does attributing the article to the Forum alleviate copyright concerns, if there are any?

Thanks Laura for all your contributions to the area and making NDSU and its alumni proud of you.

Too bad things did not work out at the Trials, your last big race. The Trials had one of the most competitive 800m fields ever in the United States, so a tough go. Plus I suspect you were not 100% for some reason, so though you wanted to, you could not show everyone what you could do. Regardless, however, you accomplished a lot in your career, and took your running to a level that only a few NDSU athletes have ever done - getting a Brooks sponsorship, competing in Europe and other places in the world for a couple of summers, and so on.

Best wishes in all you do in the future.

It's somewhat of a gray area other than not posting the entire article, but it's generally accepted to post a portion of the article along with a link to the full article, something like this- http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?27740-Olympic-Trials&p=631497#post631497
