View Full Version : A deep look into the future

EDIT: This is not projected starters. Just roster makeup.

There has been some good discussion as to how the team will look in a few years after we graduate the giant class of 30+. I projected future rosters based on who is graduating and who we've signed. These aren't necessasrily starters and we have no clue who will be with the team in 4years but it gives a rough idea of how the team could look in the future. I was a bit concerned about 2014 but after looking at the roster I think we're going to be really good. I didn't include all the seniors who primarily play special teams because I didn't want to start another section and I guarantee you I have tons of spelling errors.

I noticed a few things. Justin Arp isn't listed on the roster? They added the freshman class. Also they updated height and weight. Looks like some guys added substantial weight.

How about we enjoy 2012 before getting concerned about future years?? Plus it's very nice that you are projecting starters out of HS seniors but nobody has any idea how these kids will pan out.

I do appreciate the work you put into it though. It was interesting. I know Jack Plankers quite well and my guess is that he is a ROT not LOT. But we shall see.

I don't know about projecting starters but what impresses me is the size of the offensive linemen that came in last year and this Fall.

The offensive line recruits from 2011 and 2012 could be the heart of what will be more great years of Bison football after the 2010 class graduates.

2011 Jacob Lesar 6'6 299
2012 Sam Hahn 6'6 265
2012 Zack Johnson 6'5, 315
2012 Landon Lechler 6'7, 250
2012 Jack Plankers 6'7, 290
2011 Joe Haeg 6'6, 278
2011 Josh Colville, 6'2 279

We will need a dominating offensive line to take on Iowa in 2016.

Great size although most of the teams in the region are big too. SDSU has 5 guys 6-7 or taller. What impresses me is the athleticism

I think a lot of us look at this year's junior class and wonder what's gonna happen when they're finished. The class is so huge and talented that it's natural to want to see how we'll be positioned. It appears that we'll still be very talented...and if recruiting continues to be strong I don't see a huge drop-off. It's encouraging.

Lest we forget...this is the Bison that we're talking about. It isn't just any football program. We'll be fine.

I think stevdock raises a good point when he notes that this is, at best, conjecture. It's sure fun to see what pieces we have returning for the next few seasons (particularly, as ming noted, the '13 season where we should be just stacked) but it's tricky to try and pinpoint who might step up, who will remain with the program, or what underclassmen might step up in future classes. Heck, it's tough to assume a class of 30 is going to replace this coming year's junior class. Recruiting can be a beeotch like that.

Nonetheless, exciting to think about the future of Bison football. Still hard to believe a team loaded up with sophomores just won the national title. The future could hold some real fun.

Does this mean by having a bunch of sophomores on this year's championship team, that by the time 2015 rolls around and we play teh Sux, we will be in a "rebuilding" phase? If that is true, we are screwed.

That was my initial thought but at a glance, if we keep most of these guys were going to be loaded at WR, Oline, Dline, and safety. Next class is important. Obviously we need defensive ends and running backs first and foremost. The good news is instead of depending on 30 true freshman, well depends on 30 redshirt freshman . And whenever you have a huge class, several should play in 2014. Just the law of averages.

Great work! I always think in the future of who will play and make a difference, which is why each year is exciting, but never laid it out like this. Like others have said, we are a great program and recruiting & winning will continue.

HAHAHAHA!!! Holy crap. I'm sorry, but... I don't think anyone should care what "guests" think about a freaking online public college sports forum. Are you kidding me? What, like, if we are all sophisticated enough and are able to stay "on topic" in all our threads, the guests from opposing teams will somehow have more respect for us, or maybe even switch sides? Maybe, if we are relevant and intelligent enough in all our posts, they may start posting this stuff in the Forum or the Star Trib?!?!

I'm one the drifting assholes (I play rhythm guitar and do background vocals)
I don't think I can change my childish behavior on here and if that creates problems for anyone, then I humbly apologize.

But, without BV as an outlet, I'm pretty sure I would have driven head on into a concrete overpass pier alooonnnngggggg time ago.

I too am a thread drift engineer on occasion but it's my fellow thread drifters who can lighten a day or week gone bad. Last week, for instance, included being a pall bearer for my best client and attending the funeral of another client, age 24, who was killed in a motorcycle accident :(......I'm with Izzy on this one. The only thing I laughed at all week was on Bisonville.......life's too short

I am gonna guess the answer is none of you because it is a girls sport.

Cool story bro alert:

I still have a big mark on my shin from a line drive that hit me 2 years ago when I was pitching a softball game. You can still see where the laces dug into my skin. It turned the entire lower half of my leg black and blue for a week.

I got you beat...I got hit by a pitch by Aaron Marsden in my second to last AB against the Grand Forks Royals back in 1998. It's on the inside of my left ankle (I bet lefty) and I still have a bruise. ;)

umpiring during college years in the West Fargo League. Old guy slid into 3rd and immediately began writing in pain. Ran over there and........oh yeah, compound fracture. His bloody fibula was sticking through a hole it had torn in his tube sock extending about 3 inches. Acting quickly, I rubbed a handful of dirt into the wound, called him a girly pussy, and yelled the tradtional.....PLAY BALL!!!! and promptly took my position behind home plate.

OK, that last part is a bit of an embellishment created for that Rams dude. But, that injury was brutal.

reminds me of this story

A state police fire marshal said a fire and explosion Monday at this Union Street bakery in Luzerne was caused by an oven malfunction. A woman was reportedly injured when the oven exploded at R&R Pastries at 349 Union St. at around 7:50 am. Neither the woman’s identity nor her condition could be ascertained Monday night.

In La Crosse they have slow pitch softball leagues that you dont wear a glove. Kind of brings up the testosterone level just a bit. Then of course you have the fast pitch leagues where they throw 90-100mph.

Hell no, I was an athlete from my childhood thru college. Once I stopped receiving a scholarship I stopped exercising. I am not one of those guys who was horrible at sports growing up and then decided in my mid thirties to try baton twirling or softball or marathons.

I get it rubs a lot of drunks the wrong way when you call softball what it is, but it is a fact. Softball is for girls.

I'm glad you clarified. With many peripherals these days, the line between input-only, output-only, and multipurpose input-output devices is getting blurred, especially by TAB after a couple cold ones. So what you're saying is that you prefer the exits only. That would seem to line up well with Tranny's preference.
