Sobaski is a real good looking player. If he grows at all he is going to be an absolute steal. He's someone I can see with a good AAU season this summer would completely blow up on the recruiting scene

Channel 14 on CableOne here in Fargo is carrying the Minnesota high school boys championship games.
Saturday's games include Austin vs DeLaSalle at 6:00. DeLaSalle has 6' 7" Reid Travis, big-time prospect and quite a QB in football also. Austin has 6' 3" PG Zach Wessels (2014 interest) and 6' 7" Joe Aase (2013 interest).
Aase shows 10 offers now on his Rivals page. The late game, after 8, is Apple Valley vs Park Center. AV has Tyus Jones, the top-rated PG in class of 2014 nationwide. He is up against PC's Quinton Hooker, who is a Grand Forks U recruit. Apple Valley also has a 6' 9" Freshman center, Brock Bertram, to keep an eye on. He could end up being a high-major recruit also, but at least for now Bison fans can dream on. Gonna be wearin' out the remote flipping between this, NCAA's and Bishop Ryan vs Central Cass.

NDSU assistant David Richman visited Carter Kirk in Mountain Lake, MN yesterday. Kirk likely to visit NDSU soon.

From the sound of things, a number of schools in this region (both D1 and D2) are going after Kirk. Ryan James tweeted this about two weeks ago:

Augustana, Southwest MN St, South Dakota St, MSU-Mankato, all on hand to watch Carter Kirk today. North Dakota St and Northern Iowa called.

https://twitter.com/RyanJamesMN/status/312755171950202880

It'll be interesting to see if he moves up into D1-only territory over the summer and throughout next season or if he ends up as a top-tier D2 player when it's all said and done. Although I'd imagine NDSU ramping up its interest probably means he's more on the rise than not.

Interesting link to a Scout article on rising Jr's in Minnesota - football - including Carter Kirk - from last July, showing his sophomore #s

"Carter Kirk, 6’7 220, QB, Mountain Lake-Butterfield-Odin - 2011 All Pioneer Press. Passed for 1500 yard and 20 TDs. Rushed for 500 yards and 6 TDs. In basketball, had 17.5 ppg, 10 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game."

In the article, Bearden says "I’m looking for a school with a good program, meaning one that will try to get you ready for the next level."

So in other words, this kid will sign with the biggest name school that offers.

When I read the article I got the same impression, a kid who really wants a big school offer. Also I have got wonder how hard NDSU is going after him since they just signed a pg for that class.

I read it the same way everyone does, I can just tell you we are very high on the list of those kids on the Germantown team. They really liked the atmosphere at NDSU on their visit, alot of strong ties to NDSU. We have recruited the Showalter family now for about 10 years it seems. Brother now at Wisconsin. They would be a great get, a fun package deal for them to all come. Fun group to follow.

Plenty of game. Wecome aboard!

Im trying to decide if Carleton is going to eat up the Summit, or if he has yet to see some meaningful defense againt him? With LA distributing and CD at the Two, he could really put up some numbers. Seems like he has the game for 10 ppg out of the gate, depending on minutes. Do we have another guard who can create and score like that? Simply, no.

silkamilkamonico

I think LA is more of a scoring guard like that than a distributor, I think they are both similiar players. Will be interesting to see how he blends in right away.

Going to have lot more options next season. Carlin will definitely be in the mix and will be interesting to who wins the minutes.

Dupree and Jacobson both play right away? I think both could make an impact, but also would be nice to BE ABLE to redshirt to learn system more, experience college basketball via practice, and get stronger

Durpree is lock to play right away.

Jacobson is much more likely to red-shirt. Saul has mentioned he is a kid that could benefit from a year in the weight room. Plus with the log jam and not many minutes available I think its in his best interest to red-shirt. However if he can play right away he will.

Mr. Burgundy
04-05-2013, 06:44 PM
Its unfortunate that Jacobson probably will redshirt strictly on lack of minutes, because I think he can really help us. We need to be able to SHOOT! he can shoot. But, we can't play him right away and have him play 7 minutes a night. There is a logjam of minutes on that team as it is, after the next year he steps in and plays a ton. He will get stronger which is necessary. Dupree needs to come in and be a dude. Lindberg and Dupree need to be great for us. We need alot better ball handling to help LA.

Great dribbling and passing! Smooth shots. We need a guy who can knock down the short jumpers. Seems crafty around the basket. I think he will play right away.

Too go along with all that he has the size and body to step in and play right away. If he can come in and make an immediate impact on the team it will be huge!

I am really cheering and rooting hard for Lindberg to come back strong next year. He is exactly the kind of player we needed this year and we missed him. If he can come play at high level it allows us to do a lot with our lineups. Plus hes a great kid, hard not to cheer for him.
