RS QB Ryan Stanford is transferring from NDSU to school unknown. Wish the kid best of luck. He looked good and showed some promise and played very well this spring and had high completion %. Wish nothing but the best for the kid.

Good luck to him. He did look pretty impressive this spring.

I guess I am not too shocked by this news. There is ALOT of talent at QB right now. Bohl isn't making that mistake again. I am just glad Matt Jones is staying.

Good luck to him! He probably knew coming in that NDSU had a couple of guys we felt good about and another QB in his class with him. Can't blame him for leaving. Best of luck to him!

If/When he shows up at UND, how will Muss explain it to Molberg?

Even with all the qb depth it's sad to losea team member. Best of luck Ryan.

Thats too bad. I thought he looked pretty darn good for a freshman. Hope he catches on at a place where they need a qb more. With Brock, Esley, Carson, and now McGuiness were pretty stacked. But its better to have too many than not enough and lose a guy instead of being screwed. Besides we really NEED to get a few more scholarship players next year with such a small senior class. Heck were only graduating 8 next year. May have a few more with Stafford, Grimm, Lisenby, Veldman, and Don Carter leaving. Crap weve already lost 4 out of that class? If Horvath doesnt get his grades in order we may already be down 25% of the scholly class after 1 year and that doesnt include Danell Miles who disnt quality . That is not good. Hope this isnt another one of "those classes." We were on an incredible 2 year run not losing players. At least they are leaving in year 1 instead of jrs ansd sr

Not good, but it opens up another scholarship to someone who wants to be here and be a champion...Good luck wherever he ends up.

Good luck to him.

It would have been pretty hard to beat out Brock-Esley-Carson.

Sucks to lose him. I hope he succeeds wherever he ends up.

Butttttt.....am I the only person thankful(the wrong word) that it was him and not Wentz/Thorton? And maybe I will regret that statement, but you know what I'm saying.

Valid point, but I am with North Side on this one. Jones came to NDSU for a chance to play with his HS QB, so not losing him will be big

Matt Jones is totally different, but I agree they are close friends so hopefully he stays. Matt is at a position that they can share carries, the QB spot is very tough. We just had a QB win a National Title as a SO, his backup was a freshman, and the 3rd stringer was a Redshirt. Hard to blame him (or Mollberg for not seeing the same depth chart and being scared of the competition). Add that to us getting a fantastic kid out of Nebraska and we are stacked. There is no way we would have recruited a QB in the next class, and with the next class being small it is nice to add a full ride to that bunch. The downside of being as deep as we are, we are going to lose some kids who aren't going to play. Seemed like a great kid with some nice ability. Hope he goes to a place he can play quarterback and get a degree.

i guess it was a matter of time before a qb left. i dont think he would have ever cracked the lineup

Yes he did.

Yup. Even the equipment staff get rings. (I remember Justin Swany showing me his 2006 GWFC ring), so I assume redshirts received them.

Good buddies yes but I say there is a 0% chance Jones leaves. What are they going to transfer to the same school? What is he is girlfriend or something?

I'm sure it's so he 1. Doesn't have to sit out a year and 2. He can get re-recruited.

It's the smart way to go, actually...Still has four years of eligibility left. If he plays well next year, he could play 3-years at a four-year school.

Sorry, I didn't realize he wasn't a local boy.

I don't know though if he would want to sit out a year by going to a DI school.

I don't think we, as "monday morning qb's/wanna-be's" have any place criticizing this kid. My take is that he is probably a great kid who saw he was not in the best place and decided to make a change that was in his best interest. A tough decision, for sure, but commendable...I have to believe he will be a success in whatever he decides to pursue. I'll take a kid who is strong enough to make a decision like this any day!!

Let's not turn this into a shit show, good luck to him. I would bet if he was #2 on the depth chart he would stay but kids want to play so fine. Bet he will keep in touch and follow the team but is just doing what he feels is right for him
