I think he has a better shot than Veldman. The Redskins dont have much at running back and he fits their offense perfectly. I think Shanahan runs a west coast similar to NDSU. One of their backs caught 50 balls last year. His pass receiving skills is where he has a legit shot. Great news! Hope he works his ass off

Congratulations DJ! One day I'll be able to say I helped write a paper with an NFL football player. :)

The Redskins drafted a RB out of FAU in the 6th round (Alfred Morris) who is 5-9 219 and played in a pro style offense and apparently takes pride in pass blocking in addition to running between the tackles. Apparently, there was a reason they picked him in the 6th round and not DJ.

Undrafted Free agents who sign contracts (Veldman) usually have a wafer thin chance of making the 54 man roster out of Fall Camp.

Unsigned Undrafted Free Agents invited for a mini-camp tryout have microscopic chances of making the roster. Still, there would have been no invitation if there wasn't SOME interest. BTW, there are a handful of players in the NFL who made it through this route. It can be done.

BTW, the Redskins drafted 9 players and signed 12 to free agent contracts in addition to the players invited to minicamp. Two of the signed FA are running backs. I don't know how many RBs were among the invitees.

No surprise. That article listed Washington's nine draft selections and 11 of their 12 undrafted free agents. DJ is neither. We'll know more after tomorrow.

I dont think there's much difference between a 6 th round pick and rookie free agent. I think Humber and Dahl were undrafted and made it while Schoemer was drafted and was cut. Roehl was undrafted too. Had they picked up a guy in the 1st 4 rounds I would give him no shot but all the backs are in the non elite category

Roehl didn't make it...Schommer, Mays, Humber, and Dahl all play/played.

Draft picks from the first 4 ( maybe 5) rounds have high probability of making the team. A 6th round pick though has probably a 100 times better shot than a "tryout" player. Lets face facts. The pecking order starts with draft picks and goes to free agents that are signed and tryouts need to really stand out because the team has invested something in the others. No franchise is going to cut a draft pick over a tryout guy unless the tryout is vastly superior. That happens about once every three or four years.

Just thousands of dollars. Are you trying to get in to the Preposterous statements contest?

Around the 55 second mark they show the RB's. Maybe you guys can pick out DJ better than me, but I don't see him there, unless he was #22 I think (the one who got the handoff).

Well if a white dude is wearing #3 then that means 100% for sure that it is not DJ. Or were you unaware that DJ is black?

Wow, the redskins had 62 people at their rookie minicamp, including 37 that were there just to tryout.

1 drafted RB, 2 RB signed to FA contracts, 2 Tryout RB's (DJ and a guy from McNeese State).
