Good to have another track fan on the board!
Anyway, some nice results. The women broke a record that I thought might stand for decades.
Melissa Kitching, Paige Stratioti, Ashlynn Simon, Antoinette Goodman: 3:38.09 (average split: 54.52)
The old record of 3:38.54 was held by a team consisting of
-Kinsey Coles: Olympic trials qualifier in the 800
-Jill Theeler: #3 all time in the 400 for NDSU
-Rachel Kraft: who at one time, before NDSU's 800m explosion, had the #3 all-time best in 800
-Tamara Brudy: #1 all-time for NDSU in the 400
It gets better:
1. NDSU's current team is all freshmen or sophomores
2. They set the record in one of the first meets of the season. The previous top times were set in the NCAA championships at the end of the season.
3. Prior to this meet, the best 400 time I could find was 56 second by Brittany Schanandore.
4. Also, not on the relay team was Ashley Tingelstad who has the best 400 time currently on the Bison (in 2010 though.)
Adds up to a very impressive and surprising performances by the Bison women.
