Anyone know if Christine Schmaltz is training and competing?
Last summer, at the US Track and Field Championships, she ran a 2:01 800 meters as a graduating senior of NDSU - best time of all collegiate women in 2011. This also qualified her for the Olympic Trials coming up in June 2012.
I have sent e-mails to the track and field media folks at NDSU since early March asking them to give us an update on Schmaltz (and Januszewski, NDSU's other 800 meter Olympic qualifier), but nothing.
I have e-mailed sports editors at the Forum. Nada.
Januszewski has shown up in a couple of meet results, but nothign on Schmaltz. So is she still in play, or has decided to hang it up?
