Put up very good numbers and NFL teams are looking more and more at TE's. Chances Veldman get drafted vs. Undrafted FA?

If he had been healthy more in college, he'd have a great shot. He is ranked on most draft projections in the 20-30 range among tight ends. There were 13 TEs drafted last year.

He had a great pro-day and TE's are becoming more of a priority in the NFL, especially ones with Veldman's size for in the Red Zone, however with his mediocre stats for an FCS player I only give him around a 10% chance of getting his name called. Granted his stats were earned on a run first team, but just don't see it happening, best of luck to him and all the other Bison though!

He seemed to be pretty dinged up his whole career except for his Senior outing. This is going to be a pretty big hit on him when the scouts look at him as you take a beating in the NFL. If he could have turned in a few years like his senior year I would say more of a lock for the draft. Right now just throwing numbers out 15% draft 80% FA 5% neither.

The guy who writes a lot of draft stuff about the FCS and lower divisions that posts on AGS said this about Veldman when I told him Veldman was having a great pro day....
I was hoping he would. He could get drafted. I personally think he's going to be the first or only draft pick from NDSU this year. I like McNorton more than Cornick to be honest. Cornick needs a good pro day after his combine and all-star game performances that had most saying free agent.
I just checked his website and he has Matt going in the 7th round.....

I was really impressed by Matt's numbers from the NDSU Pro Day but I don't think he will get drafted.
Could Matt be more effective as a WR than a TE in the Pro's?

It's a weak TE class I've heard from NFL Network. Hopefully he can sign as a undrafted free agent.

I think it's possible.
Of course, Matt will be hallucinating, but it's possible.

While I am not too sure he will be drafted, I do think he will be invited to someone's camp this summer.

My kids are invited to Camp Cormorant and you don't see a two page thread on the deal...

He has now made ESPN's DraftTracker List. I don't think he was on it previously - especially before NDSU's pro day. Veldman is listed at 6' 6 7/8" - 254 lbs. Given a grade of 30 with a position rank of 21. Grade of 30 is in their borderline draft prospect range. More likely a undrafted FA signing player.
Too bad the Vikes already have 2 tall TE's who are supposed to be good receivers. It would be natural for them to want to sign a hometown guy, otherwise.

30 generally means nothing is known about said prospect...

They should watch the highlight of DJ's TD screen pass in the Frisco game. Veldman absolutely blew up a guy right by the goalline to assure the TD. Love that play.
