Any word on when Craig Dahl will be going through the Combine? Is NDSU having a Pro Day? NFL.com has North Dakota on March 6th, but nothing about ND State. I am guessing Frick, Steffes, Dahl, and T. White would all be participating in the Pro Day.

I'd also like to know when Dahl is up, I actually caught Swogger tonight *puke*, but he actually looked good. ::)

I think the safeties are on NFL network on sunday.

I can't find it
*side note*
A buddy of mine talked to Kyle today, kind of depressed/excited all the same.
Depressed he's not there, might not be drafted, BUT has had quite a few calls, and some talks/tryouts coming up also. He was cool about it though, he's a class act.

I was watching the combine last night on NFL network, OL and TE. I am prety sure they said that the DBs will be participating in the combine on Tuesday.

Defense starts Monday. I agree, I think he will be on Tuesday. Great TV if you have a chance to watch it. REally interesting. Russell from U of M ran a 4.84 today and weighed in at 229. They were not speaking hightly of him. Dick Vermeil was talking about how a kid can just continue to make poor decisions. Too bad, because he could really run the ball. I enjoyed watching him for the Gophers. I am sure Craig will represent us well.

Here is something I found on Craig Dahl. There is a picture of him on the site as well.

http://parisi.squarespace.com/nutrition/

From the website:

Check out this picture of Craig Dahl - a free safety currently training with us for the NFL combine. Craig came in about 6 weeks ago weighing 206 lbs and 8.6% body fat. Yesterday he weighed in at an impressive 217 pounds and 8.0% body fat. That is dedication.

11 a.m. ET: Workouts: Linebackers and Defensive Linemen (LIVE) (repeats at 4 & 8 p.m.)
7 p.m. ET/PT: NFL Total Access at the Scouting Combine (LIVE)

Tuesday, Feb. 27
11 a.m. ET: Workouts: Defensive Backs (LIVE) (repeats at 4 & 8 p.m.)

Wednesday, Feb. 28
8 p.m. ET/PT: 2007 NFL Scouting Combine Wrap-Up Show

I found that on their website. They basically show it round the clock, and like I said, it is actually fun to watch. So far the highlight for me was watching Brady Quinn put up 225 lbs 24 times. That after he wasn't going to do it, and his agent told him no. He is put together. I haven't been a fan of his, but he looks good. At the time I was watching, the fastest receiver was from the Gateway conference. I don't recall his name. Pretty cool though.

That dude running the weight room needs his own reality show. I haven't watched reality TV since season 1 of the Osbornes but I'd tune in for him. Hilarious.

Steve La Falce from Western Illinois put up some pretty impressive numbers, but I don't know how fast he is.

I emailed Steve Hallstrom and asked him if he could write a blog to update us about how Dahl is doing down in Indy. He said he would look into it and see what he could find out about Craig.

DAHL CRAIG NORTH DAKOTA ST SS 10 10

Sorry, that was a bad cut and paste, but he is supposedly going to be #10 in group 10. If you watch on TV, they have very generic numbers, so he will probably have SS10 on his chest. no school info or anything. I am excited to watch. They run replays around the clock.

40 times at the combine are always slow... accurate

Fixed your post for you. *;)

I wouldn't necessarily say more accurate, in my experience with scouts they wait until you pass the line to stop the clock, not get to the line like most timers. I guess as long as you are consistent one way or the other they can tell you is has the speed to make it.

I assumed they used a computer system for times, so it would be more accurate. Does anyone know what they use?

all of the DI strength coaches I know say they use hand held stopwatches instead of electronic timing devices. The reason is that electronic is exact and it will be a slower time than hand held. i was told by one Big Ten strength coach that their head coach didn't want them to think they were a slower team than the competition, so do what the other teams were doing!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I've heard.

I thought the combine used electronic timing, hence the typically higher numbers.

Mr._Burgundy

All of the coaches in the crowd are using hand held, but then the NFL networks says....."we are still waiting for the official time..." That has to imply that everything is electric at the combine. They talk alot about how all of the coaches are still using their hand held and tracking that way too. I still think that is great TV. But, I am a rube and enjoy that stuf. LaRon Landry was my combine MVP. Kid was HUGE and fast.

well according to all the espn guys and critics they always talk about how combine times are always slower...so when someone runs in th 4.3's they praise the hell outta them because combine times are KNOWN to be like tenths of seconds off...which is weird cuz a tenth of a second is that much time...lol

Flintstone
03-03-2007, 05:11 PM
They are slower because they are timed electronically and not by the kids coach. *The combine times are accurate. *The hand timed ones are not.

Does anybody know how they are timed at the pro days at the individual schools?

Handtimes are from .1 to .25 seconds off... so Dahl's time is the equivalent of all those Big 10 4.4's you hear about. I think he's fast enough for the NFL.

The standard in Track & Field is to subtract 0.24 seconds from electronic to convert to hand-held.
