This Saturday the hammer falls on the debate. There will be no doubt that NDSU is a power in the FCS. The doubters will be reminded that there's something very special about North Dakota State Football. There will be rumblings that North Dakota State is one of the best teams to ever play in the division.

The Bison faithful, young & old, will witness one of the epic Bison championship games. There's no way to lose this game. There's the winners...and the champions.

The Bison will be the champions. We hang banners when we go to the playoffs. No need for cans of paint.

The Rams will control the tempo of the game. Brock Jensen will show the FCS that he is an outstanding leader...and that he controls games. Our defensive backfield will create two turnovers. Chad Willson will have the game of his life. The opponent will face the best front seven that they've seen this year. It will disrupt the rhythm of their offense. DJ & Sam will both have one or two big runs. Brock will be more like he was in the first half of the season...sharp. Ryan Smith will have two or three big receptions. Warren Holloway will make some of the Texas schools wonder how he got away. He will move the sticks. Watch for one long reception over the top. Veldman will have one touchdown catch and 2 or 3 other good catches. Dudzik & Pile will make their mark with some big hits & great coverage. Evans...a true leader...will have one of his biggest games as a Bison. We will have one very big return. Boyer will have 2 sacks & a bunch of hurries. Their defense will wear down by the 3rd quarter. Their offense will be extremely fresh and anxious to get on the field. They won't get their wish. Oh yeah...MWill. MWill will toy with the QB and make it impossible to throw in his direction.

SHSU, despite what they've seen on film, will be shocked at how stout and aggressive we are. They'll also be surprised at how quick we are at almost all positions.

But...like other teams...they will shake their heads when it's over...thinking..."we didn't play very well." This is very familiar for us old guys. It's becoming familiar for the younger guys.

Get used to it. We'll be back to this game several times in the next 10-15 years. We will see 3 or 4 championships in that time period...and 2 or 3 near misses. Our presence in the playoffs will be a constant.

We will celebrate...and outstanding athletes from all around the midwest will be anxious to wear the Bison uniform. Some will leapfrog over the Twin Cities because the Bison Brand has become so attractive.

It's a simple formula. If you wanna play championship football...play for North Dakota State.

Coaches will leave for bigger contracts...but it won't matter. NDSU Football is viewed as an outstanding place to learn, and to advance.

Oh yes...the hammer falls...this Saturday.
