...as a result, the Bison have had to make some excitement for themselves, and with the football team bound for the Football Championship Subdivision, that excitement is clear across the Red River Valley and all the way into the Badlands as the state of North Dakota rallies around this Bison football team.

The last time the NDSU men's basketball team defeated Minnesota was in 1936, and since the team has transitioned to Division-I, the teams have played six annual battles that have all gone the way of the Gophers. Thursday night in Minneapolis, it was no different - yet the strongest showing yet by the Bison highlights an unusually strong Summit League in 2011.
