These are the games that we have to start winning again. Home conference games against the top of the conference. Last year we beat ORU, but we must make it a regular occurrence. Road conference games are tough no matter the opponent, so we have to take care of business tonight. Go Bison!

No students at this game hurts. Home court advantage feeds from the student section. Everyone there can still get loud and crazy. As far as the game, we will have to shut down Hamilton. Our defense is one of the best in the nation at fg percentage allowed so I hope that continues. I think we win a close, well played game. Bison-71 Oakland-65

I think Oakland is trending the wrong way a bit, not playing great defense(I don't think they played any defense vs WMU). I think we'll come out with a bit of an edge after the Gopher game left a bad taste in our mouth. Bjorklund has a big game, Felt sinks some threes and Hale does just enough to contain Hamilton...Bison by 8....79-71

Good luck tonight guys. I don't see this on ESPN3 (at least not up here in Michigan) but I'm going to make an effort to tune in.

I won't make any predictions but I think how 3's Felt hits will probably be fairly indicative considering he's shooting the bulk of your good % from deep and that's been something we've struggled to do. I think SDSU presents more problems for us defensively, but either way. Whereas most years beating just one Dakota team means something for us and the other team may be having a down year, this year is definitely not the case for that, and a crucial trip for all teams involved.

They're really good this year, their only bad loss was to Western Michigan. They've beaten almost all the mid-majors on their schedule and I think they have a win over a Power 6 team.

Oakland isn't what they were last year - at the end of last season they had literally no returning frontcourt players and are relying on a skilled group of guards to get wins. They're still good and Reggie Hamilton may be a draft pick (and will likely be a Summit POTY finalist), sophomore Bader is one of the hottest 3-shooters in the country, and they've got some skilled young guys and a transfer from Michigan down low. Thing is they lack a true PF and the Bison showed tonight you can kill them on the dribble.

Anyway, still a great and very impressive win. That said, Oakland isn't the titan they were last year. Just goes to show the conference is more up for grabs than ever after Oakland's domination the past two years. Can't say enough about how a team that starts four sophomores and freshman played tonight.

Good win for sure. Fouls are becoming a concern though. When was the last time you saw a guy foul out on the winning team of a 30 point blowout? 27, 21, 21 fouls the last 3 D1 games and at least 1 fouling out in every game. We even had more fouls than Mayville which I'm sure was hard to do.

Great game, terrific first half by the Bison just a clinic on how to play a complete half of basketball. Things got a bit ragged in the second half but we finished strong.

That was probably the quietest I've seen Kampe, ever. He wasn't happy with how they played defense in their last game and if they don't figure something out they won't win a lot of road games.

Somebody might have to cut a hole in the roof of the BSA just to vent the place, once the fans packed in it went to full on sauna mode and I was in the student section. I don't want to think about how it was for those higher up. One of these games I almost expect to see hot lava flowing out of the upstairs press box.

Fun game to watch. Way to many fouls. Every time the crowd would get on our feet to get going we would commit a foul and kill the momentum. Hotter than hell in there tonight. I had not seen the people behind me before and I don't think they will be back due to the heat.

Great win by the team though.

After losing about 5 pounds in the upper east side row 23 under the heat lamp, I'm guessing Mount Doom would be a good place to visit to escape the heat.

Kampe had Reggie riding the bench much of the first half. He let Felt shoot 3's whenever he got the ball. Kampe called him over to the bench, pointed at the chair and said "sit!" Kampe spent almost all of the second half SITTING in his chair.

My guess is was for a better view to be higher then the student section as they sometimes stand.

As far for the game, no complaints really. Got a little sloppy at the end with fouls but the refs were also calling some pretty ticky tack stuff. Braun played an absolutely amazing first half and Hamilton probably had one of the quietest 24 point games you will have. Kampe was defeated and disinterested for a most of the game.

I don't know about "probably." I think we can certainly beat them, but a team loaded with veterans vs. a team loaded with underclassmen in a do-or-die situation? I don't see any situation this season in which the Bison are favored over Oral Roberts on a neutral court.

We certainly have the talent to do it, my concern is consistency.

We WILL go to the Tourny this year if we stick with a 7 man rotation. I guess give Carlson a few garbage minutes, like 5 minutes at most a game to come in and hard foul or something, then put him back on the bench. And then only Aaberg and Felt come off the bench. We would be set. Today you saw what would happen when we dont play Lindberg and Carlson too much, though 11 minutes is a little too much for Carlson IMHO. But it was a blowout so ill give Saul a pass here. Give Lindberg's minutes to Lundberg and we will be set.

The best team in the conference is either SDSU or ORU if not NDSU. OU is a 4th place team, said that before the season started too. They are good don't get me wrong.. the summit is up, way up.

Bader was also 0-4 from 3. Hamilton 3-12 and Perry 1-5. When you shoot 21 3's and only make 4 you are probably gonna lose 99% of the time.

What happened to that kid who was the son of an NBA player, that I thought didnt look that good...but everyone insisted would replace JJ. I swear he was a freshman like 2 years ago. Eckles or something.

As soon as SDSU, ORU, or NDSU gets by Oakland in the conference tourny, I will then say one of those teams are better then Oakland. When you're 51 and 4 or something the past couple years in conference play, you are the best team.

Lindberg > Lundberg! We need to continue to develop Lindberg to give LA some minutes to rest. Last night Lindberg entered the game and NDSU was up 12. When he left the game they were up 11. He is a true Freshman and has a chance to be a big part of a really good team.

The hot shooting from three by the Bison and the cold shooting from three by Oakland was the main reason for the big point spread last night. As we all know three point shooting will come and go. Hale and Braun will most likely not shoot that well from deep on a consistent basis, especially on the road.

What needs to be the focus for the Bison is to keep improving their defense. Here the Bison have found a good on-the-ball defender in Hale. A long quick wing in Braun that makes it difficult for other wings in the league to shoot over. LA and Felt seem to hold their own as well. A soliid post defender in Bjorlund with good help defenders and shot blockers in the paint with Wright ant Aaberg. All and all a defensive club that will keep the Bison in most games.

If I see him around, I say what up, but that is about it. Just because Lind gets more mins doesnt mean he is better. Just not the greatest coaching IMO. They should have redshirted him this year, we dont need him this year. And ya we won, oh well, I expected it, I am happy about it, but I am not surprised. I couldnt really care less about some of the upcoming games, I just cant wait until that SDSU game, it is gonna be sooooo sick.

And just because LA gets more minutes than Zastrow, it doesn't mean he is better. Oh wait, yes it does. Saul sees these guys in practice every day. He know who has the talent and works well together and what does not. Just look at Carlson. Now, I know he is coming off not playing because of a broken jaw but the reason he had a breakout season 2 years ago was because of lack of other talent on the team. With this group of a great freshman and sophomores, you have to play them because they are better. If if means seniors like Lundberg and Carlson have to sit on the bench more than they want, that's life. I trust Saul wit his ability to put the best players on the floor.

Was at the game last night and was just completely in awe of the fact that we dominated by 27. Got to see some quality basketball and lost about 7.5lbs in water weight as well. Even though we won big, I must say the only reason we won big was because we shot 64% from the field and 60% from 3 land. Yes Oakland shot poorly, but I'm going to contribute that to tough defense and I think this team has now proven that it's going to be tough for opponents to shoot a high % against this team as we are in the top 30 in the nation in defensive FG%. Also fun fact, after last nights game we are now 11th in the nation in offensive FG% shooting 49.8% from the floor. These are AMAZING numbers for such a young team, but it's also a reality check because with those numbers we should have an even better record than we have. The things that worry me about this team are the silly turnovers, realistically we probably should have won by almost 40 last night but too many blown fast breaks and other wasted possessions. Also, our FT% of 67.4% is absolutely awful and one of the reasons we have lost close games this year. The thing this team needs to work the most on is fouls, with only an 7 or 8 man rotation it's important to keep guys on the floor and not to give our opponents so many chances at the FT line. In our 3 losses this season we have out fouled our opponents 72-46, can't win close games with that big of a margin. All that being said to start 9-3 with a 2-1 record in the Summit league sounds pretty good to me for a team starting 4 sophomores and a freshman. This team has enough talent to be very very dangerous in the tourney come March. Now we just have to see if they can avoid the let down after a big win and not lay an egg against IPFW, a team that has been very competitive with us. Another big win tomorrow and then it's off to ORU to see where we really stack up against the top dawg in the conference on their home court.

Judging by the way he was walking into the locker room I'd say he's gonna be out for at least a week or two even if it's just a light sprain. Lot's of pressure on a player's basketball player's knees and any pain will make him hesitant and less effective. Since we have Lindberg and Lundberg to back-up LA as well as Hale if needed at point, I don't think Saul will put him back on the court til he's 100%

BSA sucks.........why should people have to pay money to watch a game in 80 plus degree heat. There is nothing the NDSU facility engineers can do to alleviate the problem until the modified arena is possibly built.......next decade? Hope those limited visibility seats (railings, pillars) go away with the modified arena. Assume all new HVAC, but who knows. Maybe they can reuse the old seating to save money and build the damn place 6 months sooner. North Dakota Legislature is a bunch of morons. No reason NDSU should have to re-build the BSA on 100% private funds. Nice NDSU got all the new Business school buildings from private funds. Got a word for ND state government when it comes to funding NDSU........CHEAP ASS.

There is basically one more piece of the BSA to 'sell' for naming rights, the court. Gate City gets their name in huge letters across the middle of the football field and two different places on the sidelines, of a 19,000 seat stadium for $1 million. Using the rough math, I believe this means the court's naming rights of the BSA's 5500 seat stadium should fetch us at least $75 towards the 10 million that is still needed!

Man, they need that thing built yesterday. That is the single most important thing left to bring NDSU athletics to the next level. Let's get it done!

I have been patiently waiting for the emergence of Jordan Aaberg, and although he may not be the world beater we were hoping for he seems to be playing a very important role that will become crucial if we are to make a run in the playoffs. 7 rebounds and 6 pts is not bad. And he is not afraid to get physical.

I know you were mostly joking, but this started a discussion. I just want to remind everyone that technically, the court has already been named in return for a donation. The Bunker family has donated quite a bit to NDSU over the years(Bentson-Bunker Fieldhouse anyone?) and the court and an office in the Fargodome were named after Art and his wife after a good sized donation early in the previous renovation campaign. Art passed away two years ago, but I don't think it would be right to try and sell the naming rights again.

http://www.ndcourts.gov/court/news/BunkerArt.htm

Art enrolled at the University of Wyoming and transferred to North Dakota State University to play basketball at the persuasion of Coach Chuck Bentson. Art was quoted many times as to the importance of Coach Bentson in his life. “He was an excellent coach and a good friend. His counsel was very important to me over the years, long after I got out of basketball and college. I consider him to be one of the greatest positive influences on my life.”

Art earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at N.D.S.U. in 1952. While attending N.D.S.U., Art was President and Social Chair of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, an All Conference basketball player and a member of the following organizations: Blue Key, Scabbard and Blade, Edwin Booth, Secretary of Lettermen’s Club, Interfraternity Council, Board of Public Programs, Treasurer of the Senior Class, Distinguished Military Grade and received the Army Association Medal.

Art served five terms as an influential member of the North Dakota House of Representatives and was Speaker of the House in 1973. He is a Past President of N.D.S.U. Team Makers. He was inducted into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975. Art is a charter member of the N.D.S.U. Development Foundation and served as President of the N.D.S.U. Alumni Association. Art received the Alumni Award from Business Economics in 1969. He received the Alumni Achievement Award in 1989 and an Honorary Doctorate in 1992 from N.D.S.U. In 1995, Art was awarded the N.D.S.U. Development Foundation Service Award.

The Bentson-Bunker Fieldhouse, the Art and Norene Bunker Basketball Court in the Bison Sports Arena, and the Art and Norene Bunker Office in the Sunderland Football Complex at the FargoDome all carry the Bunker name.

Art and Norene have been tremendous friends of higher education in general and N.D.S.U. specifically. Their generosity and thoughtfulness have left a footprint on the institution for generations to come.

Agree. The "Art & Norene Bunker Court" will be the same once the renovation is complete. Plus, it would be way to confusing to play at "Sponsor X Court" at the "Scheels Center" in the "Sanford Health Athletic Complex."
