Update : Prices dropping on Stub Hub to $95- $125 per ticket !

Hey yall, The game is sold out except for standing room only seats that go on sale Jan 3. Bus packages seem to be the best deal at this point in time because they include tickets. $425 is not that bad. Plenty of seats on Stub Hub but spend. Charter flights available with tickets. scalpers outside of Frisco plentiful

I'll add tailgating, lodging, charter flights, and travel info as we go. Please post any info you have. Please sticky. Also if you get tickets please post your SECTION and lodging. Sam Houston is local so we need to pack as many Bison fans as possible to make a statement that even t hough we are over 1,000 miles away, we can draw as well as Sam Houston who is less than 200 miles.

There are several ways to get tickets

They claim sclapers bought them all but there is only 120 on stub hub. I think we're going to need to get a lost of green and gold there because this will have a ton of sam houston fans.

I heard during the game Saturday that a lot of seats were already sold. WTF? Gene Taylor said after the game that we would have a very large allotment available on Monday. Wonder what game he was talking about. He'd better be right.

If not...we got screwed...especially considering that SHSU is so close...and had a head start on us.

EDIT: Check back on the NCAA site soon as many have been reserved but not purchased. If you want to go to the game you will be able to.
I would be willing to bet that many of those seats that were sold already are in the hands of Bison fans. If there are 21,000 seats and 8,000 (4K each) are given to the Bison and Bearkats, that would leave 13,000 available to the public. I have a tough time believing that Sam Houston, who has an all time record crowd of 16K and a stadium that holds 14K would buy them all in 1 day. I bet the greedy scalpers, bus companies, and Bison fans ended up with quite a few.

It will be interesting to see how this ticket situations sorts it's self out. I wish we could have the ticket situation handled better... We are planning and booked our entire trip without the confirmation of our tickets. I put in my request for tickets, so hopefully we get our request of 7 tickets which is equal to the number of season tickets that we have. It is interesting the communication from SHSU is much different than NDSU ticket office.

After being on hold for 30 minutes with the NCAA this afternoon they openned up and communicated that most tickets are allocated to the teams (NDSU and Sam Houston) - then the rest are released to the general public after we have had a chance to purchase. They also communicated that they only sold a small number tickets (2000-2200) that they allowed to be available - these are the ones sold out this morning.

In summary - based on the number of tickets sold at the Sam Houston home games, distance from Fargo, and previous years ticket sales (10-14K). I would say that tickets at face value will be available towards the end of this week.

It sure would make me feel better if this was wrapped up or if the stadium held 60-70K.

Gabe - To clariy the NCAA phone agent seemed pretty honest in communicating that very few tickets have been sold yet only 2000-2200 that FC Dallas were able to sell on the link below - minimal that were opened up to the public before the winners were decided and a few for bus/charter companies. The rest are alocated to the teams, and remaining thousands will be released the end of this week.

Let's hope this is true, but I can assure you I will be looking for tickets all week.

You can bet the fans from the 4 teams in the semi finals reserved tickets like I did last week. The two teams fans who are going home will now release those tickets. FYI They have been selling tickets to this game for a couple of months now if not longer. Last week when I reserved 32 tickets the seats from the 40 to the 50 were gone and had been gone for sometime according to the ticket agent.

From what I understand they have been told very little by the NCAA and won't know for certain until a meeting Monday or Tuesday (I've heard conflicting reports on the day). I'm guessing SHS is hedging their bets based on past history while NDSU is waiting more until information is confirmed.

I feel bad for those who jumped on StubHub tickets and paid more than face value because I also have a feeling there will be plenty of face value tickets available. I'm not betting any valuable parts of my anatomy though.

While I am waiting to see if I get tickets from a teammaker friend to make travel plans, I suspect I will probably go even without ticket in hand. There are always tickets on the street for games thus why I did not panic and get raped by stubhub. (As any FYI, whenever I go to Twins games, I never buy tickets until standing outside the stadium and I have to drive 240 miles one way....) Sounds like my strategy was correct......

Does anyone know how NDSU will award tickets? I know it's on a points system, but does the individual with the most points get up to 25 tickets if they asked for them before the guy with the 2nd most points get a shot at 1 ticket? Or do they limit the # of tickets until all people requesting get at least 2 before going back to the top point guys?

For us, alot less hassle. Direct flight, hotel with bison fans, and not fooling with a rental car. It's the championship game, it's not like we were just there, oh yeah, back in 1990! Spend a little cash.

I talked to representative of the ticket office today and they said it was crazy and "almost getting out of hand". They are looking at the 25 ticket per person allotment closely. If they run short, they are going to look at each allotment and possibly limit it to the # of season tickets people purchased (ie bought 25 tickets but only had 4 season tickets)-unless there is some justification for it. So if you are one that did that, be possibly prepared to not get those extra 20 tickets for friends/family/profit.

I, for one, ordered only what my season ticket allotment was.

My only comment is limiting to only the season ticket allotment should only be done if you get to the point where some season ticket holders can't get them. I have been planing on getting tickets though a teammaker friend, and feel that is pretty darn legit. Why not put a limit of 6 or 8 or what ever your number unless you currently buy more tickets than that?

Changing the rules now would make a bad situation worse. If they wanted to limit it to 10 they should have done that to start with. Now should people on someone elses list for 2 hedge their bets and order 2 on their own account as well? This will make an even bigger mess.

I don't see hardcore Bison fans doing that. There's a great fellowship that runs around this program that's really something special.

Just called on six tickets for $90/ticket on Craigslist. Got a reply back from the dude (ndsu.edu email by the way) that he just bumped them up to $250 because that is what stubhub is going for...

I'm guessing patience will be rewarded on pricing but understand not everyone can be patient. As I recall from my econ classes, price is set where the supply and demand lines cross. Right now there is a lot of demand and very limited supply. Since there is a perception that supply may not get better, the price is driven up as evidenced by the Craig's list person. If you are willing to be patient I'm guessing the supply will eventually rise up to be closer to demand (or even higher) which will result in tickets around face value. I really hope I'm right because it would suck if loyal fans weren't able to go or they had to pay crazy stupid prices to go.

I, for one, ordered only what my season ticket allotment was.
uh you think...the 25 allotment is so dumb.

uh you think...the 25 allotment is so dumb.

My hunch is that the number of "pre-bought" tickets was higher than normal this year do to the teams in the later rounds of the PO's-->both MT schools, us, UNI, GSU, SHSU, etc. SHSU is close, and the other teams mentioned travel damn well!!

Has anyone noticed a charge from the ticket office for their tickets yet? A friend of mine (not in TM) put in his request for 6 tickets and was charged $300. After a call into the ticket office, he found out that they did run the charge for the 6 tickets and it was by mistake.

It'll be interesting to see if the ticket office still gives them their tickets or if the charges are reversed. I wouldn't be surprised if they're reversed.

Anyone see anything similar?

Why is NDSU's ticket office allow until Friday to sign up for tickets. Would it not be better for all to have said Wednesday. People would be able to book flights easier/cheaper, make planning a bit more easy, etc.

I think you are exactly right.

Since this is our first "time around the block" so to speak, I think a lot of us were caught unaware of the dynamics of how to acquire tickets. Montana and GSU are seasoned veterans on managing deep playoff runs and SHSU is just down the road so they bought large early. We got caught with our pants down.

I love how well we travel. It is so awesome to see us at this level of support.

What will it look like after a NC or two?

My thoughts are the increased demand for FCS championship tickets can also be attributed to the delay of 3 weeks between semi-finals and final game. More national visibility with a game on the last weekend of college football. Maybe time for the NCAA to rethink the small field approach to the FCS title game.

^^^this...if everyone just chills out a bit and doesn't go shelling out $250 per ticket, the prices will come down. There's already one single seat out there on Stubhub this morning (good seat, sidline) for 65 bucks.

You might have to pay more than face value if you don't get in on NDSU's initial allotment, but you sure as heck won't have to pay more than $200 per ticket.

Everybody wait until next week to buy a ticket and you'll get them for a lot cheaper. Right now the fans are panicking...the time to buy is closer to game time when the ticket brokers are panicking.

Negativity is only over if you have tickets. Promised my 10 year old grandson I would take him to frisco if the bison won. He has been to every home game this year (300 miles round trip). We purchased plane tickets on way home from last game never dreaming buying a ticket for the game would be a problem. I am a first year Teammaker with 5 season tickets. We are going to go anyway and hope for the best....to buy a ticket there. If can't score a reasonable ticket, then we will watch on TV in frisco with others in same boat! But I am wondering why I should be a teammaker again as there is little chance that I could ever catch up and earn enough priorty points to " qualify".

Being a TM isnt about whether you get playoff tickets. That is a perk for being a TM after time. You joined TM to help fund athletic scholorships.

As an FYI, my points missed the cuttoff also. I still plan to get season tickets and maintain my teammaker membership next year. And yes, I am going to Frisco thanks to a friend getting tickets before the big squeeze.

I will agree that improvements can be made and hope to see those improvements put in place next year.

The amount of TM membership dues is based on location in the FD and AMOUNT of tickets you wish to have seats for. SO WHY was the allotment limit set at 25? If you're the highest contributer in TM and normally order 5 tickets the limit should have been 5 until everyone had a chance at the 4600 allotment(example). Starting at top and then working the way down the list. After everyone was satisfied then extra could have been given starting a top of list again. YES IM BITTER

Question. Youve been a Teamamker just this year correct? Thank you for joining. There are many many teammakers that have been giving to NDSU for 20-30 years. Would it be fair to those Teammakers to give you a seat over them? This has nothing to do with elitism. But has everything to do with commiment to the Bison.

I dont know of one school that does that type of distribution. Distribution is based on level of giving over time. 25 tickets were too much I agree. But the big harbinger was the NCAA allotment of only 4,000.

I have somethings I want to ask for anyone in the know. I am a season ticket holder of 5 yrs, but not a Team Maker. Since I didn't get tickets I figured I needed to do something to get me more points for the next time. If I was to make a donation, would I still be able to get my same seats? Next if I wanted to get seats into the Team Maker section would I still have to pay for the seats along with the tickets or does the donation take precedence over the price of the seats?

You can still keep your same seats. If you donate $5,500 or more per year your tickets are part of your donation. Otherwise it's donation plus the cost of tickets.

You should be able to. TM section --you make a donation to TM for the section and seat you wish to sit in. The tickets are seperate. Is that what you are asking?

Also curious as to what the parking fee is as I can only find amounts for the soccer team parking events, did find a place it said all other events are free unless otherwise stated. Anyone have any information on this? Just curious so I can plan out that, don't necessarily want to carry too much cash on me (plus helps me keep spending down! especially since we splurged a bit on this trip!).

Alumni Association website now has updated activity locations and times.
Note: Saturday gameday attire is Yellow.
CAS had posted this earlier in the thread but this is a nice 1-page summary of events.

You need a little of this to start happening?^^^^^^^^^^:)

Honestly, though, I am enjoying the wait and kind of liking that time is standing still. Enjoying this buildup to the game. All the BV chatter, the trip planning, reading all the articles I can, etc is off the charts fun right now. One never knows when this opportunity will arise. Enjoy it. Soak it all in.

My wife had a alumni thing pulled up and I see they say if you are renting a vehicle to get a toll "thingamajig" as the tollway does not take cash or credit card and they take a picture of the license plate and send a bill and it is more expensive than if you have the toll "thingamajig". Looks like they went away from manned toll booths in December 2010. Just a heads up to ask your car rental place or for people driving their own cars to look into.

added:

Here is the note from the Alumni Association:

Note Dallas Tollways: If you are renting a vehicle, please secure a pass toll transponder when you pick up your vehicle. The toll booths do not accept cash or credit cards. If you do not have a transponder, they photograph your license plate and will bill you later at a much higher rate.

Ask for a "Toll Tag". People should know what it means.

Where can a person get a toll tag?

Where can a person get a toll tag?You should be able to get one from the rental car company. In areas with a lot of toll roads they often come with the toll tags. I was in Dallas this Fall and rented a car and I don't remember if my car had one. I was never on a toll road so I didn't think to check.

One lesson I learned was the toll tag companies often bill you separately from the rental car companies for your tolls. One trip I had in the Philly area they didn't charge my card for the tolls for a couple weeks after my trip. The problem was my card had expired so the charge wouldn't go through. I didn't realize it until I got a collection notice from the company for $3 in unpaid tolls. I tried to contact them to pay it but could never get resolution. I eventually gave up trying to give them my money.

they'll send you a bill in the mail.

the problem is rental cars that have a bit of scam going with TXDOT, nailing renters with exorbitant service fees.

Perfect. called the number and set up a day pass account. They charge your credit card 20.00. After the tag expires they credit the unused portion back to your card. All it takes is one phone call to set it up and saves you 50% over the regular billed tolls.

Just looked at the confirmation on my rental car and this was in there (nice little administrative fee):

POLICY:

DFW - Dallas - DFW International Airport (Texas)
Please note: There are toll roads within this area that have converted or will be converting to all-electronic tolling or cashless tolling. In these areas there is no option for a rental car to stop and pay the tolls in cash. If your travels will take you on a toll road in an area where there is no option to stop and pay cash for the tolls, Pass24 is the perfect solution. If you choose not to select the Pass24 Prepaid Tolling Option and do travel on one of these all-electronic toll roads, and do not have your own tolling device in the vehicle, the applicable toll will be paid for you and an administrative fee of $25.00 will be added to each toll utilized.

Good link. Thanks. Looks like Kroger and Albertson's in Frisco also have a place to set up the credit card payment option.
