We'll see if the NCAA does the right thing for the colleges or if they completely sold out to ESPN. NDSU has graduation on Friday, SHSU has theirs on Saturday. Easy solution to both, play the game opposite graduation. If both graduations are on game day, then we will know exactly who calls the shots and that the NCAA is just a puppet for whoever throws the most money.

I would LOVE a home game on ESPN. I've been waiting for that chance since we moved up to D1 one. BUT if we can get a better crowd, I would choose saturday. PLUS I hope it's saturday so our players can have another day to study up on their assignments for the triple option... That's what scares me the most. Not to mention it's finals week.

its too bad. i hope we're everything like we will be on a friday night come early saturday afternoon...

I'm glad that we're on one of the espn channels. From where we are there's an option to upgrade the espn package and watch this game...just sayin.

This isn't about small-time thinking lakes.

Is it possible that Montana's political pull has been earned with a consistent presence in the playoffs, 2 titles, and some near misses? I think so. Their matchup against UNI was very attractive to espn. Their venue's atmosphere is outstanding. Sam Houston is appealing also.

Looks like we have to prove ourselves a couple of times...that is...to espn's programmers.

I have no problem with the NDSU wanting a sat game! What I do have a problem with is the fact that anybody (and there are more people than you think) who has basic cable was able to watch Montana and Montana State this last week but not NDSU. Now we have the semis, same thing, basic cable subscribers get to watch Montana again, Sam Houston again, but NDSU is shut out! ESPN 2 has scheduled the DII title game for sat, and ESPN has the cracker box bowl or somthing like that.....????

While I am a huge fan of Bison football, I am also a huge fan of our institution's first priority: academics. I applaud Taylor's request to have the game on Saturday so there wouldn't be a time conflict.

I am curious to know how many of the comments made about the insignificance of the graduation have a college degree? If some of you do, shame on you. If you don't have a degree, you really are missing the importance of putting education first on an institution's priority list. You do everything you can to protect the academic integrity of an institution and that includes doing all you can to protect the rites and rituals attached to the education experience. If a graduation ceremony is not that important to you, so be it, but you cannot criticize the athletic department for standing up for those who do deem the ceremony paramount to completing the experience. For whatever reason the game is scheduled for Saturday, this has worked out very well for the NDSU community to participate in the events that are important to them.

Why? Give me some reasons, please? Because we're a University? An educational institution's biggest reason for existence is to give people a higher education, yes, but the ceremony does not rank anywhere near the top of the list of important things that happen at a university, not at NDSU, and especially not in a year where your football team, probably one of the biggest reason most of the boosters give money to said institution, is contending for a national championship.

Sam, I brought that up because people were suggesting the ceremony was more important if u graduated.. Also, your Facebook page says you "studied at NDSU"

I really meant nothing personal, and I am sorry if it came across that way. I apologize.

It absolutely doesn't matter how pointless you regarded the ceremony. What matters is this is a ritual of an academic institution. If football is so important to you the experiences of others is of no regard, holy crap, please get a life. No matter which way you slice it, football is still just a game.

I can't make it to Fargo for the game because I need to stay home and be with my family that weekend. I guess I value Bison football over the ceremony because I dont care about it now and didn't back then. Don't tell me to get a life, efftard, I have one. @56BISON73, thats angry, for the record.

We are one game away from playing for a national championship and we are wasting time bitching about what time the next game is?

Ahhh, some others are catching on. Those who attended and graduated NDSU tend to put graduation above a single athletic contest. Those who did not attend or did not graduate from NDSU tend to put the football game above graduation. To the second group: Congratulations, you've now become Fighting Sioux hockey fans.

Interesting comments on this. I graduated from NDSU but never attended a graduation ceremony or went through it myself...and never even thought about doing it. Maybe I missed something and should have been a part of it, but I can say I'm way more excited about every Bison football game than I am about some ceremony.

So far, the efftard comment is my favorite. Your argument has been invalid from the beginning, you were called out for it, and I am the efftard? Thank you for the laugh today and I hope for your family's sake, they stay more important than a football game for you.

Sorry if I am not thinking of you on Saturday when I am at the game. I will think about the new crop of NDSU graduates who are hopefully moving on in life with a lot greater perspective about what is really important. Hopefully for the rest of us teammakers and donating alumni, it will include the occasional support for both the academic and athletic programs. They not only should coexist, they do.

Academics trump Athletics

We are a UNIVERSITY, not a pro sports team. I don't give a shit if many of you are pissed that the game isn't on friday. Big deal, a few million more subscribers will have the opportunity to watch but will probably wont. I am planning on attending the graduation ceremony on friday night and I consider it the crowning achievement of my college career. If the game was still for friday, I still wouldn't have gone to the game.

Everyone needs to settle down. Gene made a great call on this. NDSU is in the semi finals, we have home field advantage for one more game, and we are one win away from a D1 championship, something that many never thought possible 8 years ago. Step back from the edge, and cheer on the bison this weekend.

Just some perspective:
WE ARE BITCHING ABOUT THE TIME OF AN FCS SEMIFINAL GAME!
