Common misremembering. Up to that point, the AP poll did not allow votes for FCS teams. After the upset, a couple voters wanted to put in AppSt at 25 but were denied. A couple days later, the AP changed the rules to allow FCS votes, but the window had passed and not enough pollsters voted for AppSt the following week for them to be ranked(they would've been 33rd).

It's one thing to throw a bone to an FCS team after the 1st week or two. It's another thing to give a vote to an FCS team near the end of the season when there are 3 teams higher up in the Sagarin ratings.

So, was this a mistake or did he do it to spite Georgia Tech? Rotto voted GATech 25th last week before they lost to VATech. Was this some sort of punishment, saying that Tech is the third best team in Georgia?

Never mind about that last. Since GATech led going into the 4th quarter, Rotto had VATech at #11 in this week's ballot, he had GATech at #25 last week, and he didn't have GATech on his ballot this week, I'm going to believe that this vote was a mistake until I see a quote from him saying it was deliberate.

No, I just think GT fans might be a little upset about being called the #3 team in state of Georgia.

Honestly I have no idea why GSU is getting votes, they lost to a three loss team on the road, beat a DII and have beaten one team that might be in the FCS playoffs. They haven't even played an FBS team.

I edited my previous post. Ratto is protesting mediocre FBS teams. I think he chose GSU because of dropping GATech out and because they face Alabama this weekend.
