Southern Utah is still in the Summit this season, they leave next year. Centenary is gone, though.

They might as well be gone, they still got that coach with half a leg ?

Plus cal davis suck in basketball & football, not an impressive win.

The thread isnt about good wins or shit wins. Its about summit victories over OOC opponents that are Divison 1. All of Centenaries losses counted against us last year, all of SUU's wins this year count for us.

It's possible teams could have non-DI wins in out of conference play.

The Summit League is on the rise and is currently 17th among 32 D-I conferences in the KenPom rankings. That equals the ranking at the end of the 2008-09 season when the Bison made their run. The SL was ranked 25th in 2009-10 and 19th last year. Since the low point in 2009-10, the Summit has moved ahead of the MAAC, Atlantic Sun, Big West, Big Sky, Ohio Valley, Sunbelt, and Southland. Just ahead of the Summit now, but within sight, are the Ivy League (16), MAC (15), and WAC (14).

No. We are a LONG way from being a two bid league. Even the MVC, a solid top 10 conference, has been a 1-bid league the past couple years.

Thanks for the info Ferd! Mennonite finishing school was my second guess, just in case anyone was wondering. On a side note, I wonder if any of my homeboys in Gretna or Altona know there's a Mennonite finshing school in KS? Those Canadian Mexicans might want to head south to further their education in the States if teh hockies don't come a callin'.

Yeah there's almost zero chance the Summit gets two bids, the only way that would happen is if Oakland or ORU run the table and finish the season with only 2 or 3 losses to get in the top 25 then lose in the conference championship game. Oakland with #15 Michigan, Valpo and Arizona and ORU with Oklahoma, #18 Gonzaga, #11 Xavier and Texas Tech still on the schedule could make the top 25 if they finish the season with 4 losses or less (we would prolly only make it with 2 losses or less due to SOS), however they still have to play a full Summit schedule and I hope we can at least split with them, SDSU, IUPUI and SUU can be pesky teams and don't forget they have to play each other so I don't see that happening. With ORU leaving the conference after this season it's simply win in Sioux Falls or go home for the next few years at least.

Yep, the appropriate thing to do when up by 30-some with 40 seconds left is to run out the shot clock and turn the ball over. Or, better yet, hand the defender the ball allow him to take it to the house, to help his self-esteem.

Of course, don't you remember the controversy last year when NDSU manhandled SDSU? I seem to recall a few SDSU posters or was it the coach that was upset that the Bison were still shooting the ball late in the game while up by a bunch. I think the issue was Tviedt? I''m sure that thread is here somewhere.

I told you guys that loss against WIU wasn't going to look bad at the end of the season. Fans down there are starting to get excited about hoops too; 1,600+ in attendance and the best atmosphere they've had in years. And lol at SDSU-ND--that's just bad. Oral Roberts gets a monster break for their next game at #8 Xavier. Xavier's last game against Cincinnati erupted into a huge fight at the end and four of Xavier's players, including their top two scorers and assists leaders Tu Holloway and Mark Lyons. Xavier is 8-0 on the season. That'd be a crazy win for the Summit League and the Golden Eagles, but it's certainly by no means assured.

The Great West "Conference" has 11 of them, but Utah Valley has four of those.

The Summit had 38 total wins last year. I think we'll break that mark this year easily. The Summit has 32 more OOC DI games (incl. BracketBusters). I think we can get up to 50 this year.

In a return engagement at The Betty Thursday night in Grand Forks it was UND 89, South Dakota State 70. What a difference five days (and perhaps home cooking and the home court?) can do. It also helps when a team makes nearly 60 percent of its field goal attempts. Just another illustration of how crazy basketball can be at times. Good luck to the Bison football team Saturday against Georgia Southern.

The Summit had 38 total wins last year. I think we'll break that mark this year easily. The Summit has 32 more OOC DI games (incl. BracketBusters). I think we can get up to 50 this year.

The SWAC has played half as many total games but still twice as many high major teams.

It's hard to say with their insane scheduling. Bisonator won't be happy though, our D1 wins list would shrink by 10%.

Very sad. SWAC is 0-30 in money games, Summit is 1-16. Not much difference there, but the mental aspect of getting beat night after night has to take a real toll on them.

This game could start another rivalry for when they eventually join the Summit.

Road win for what is probably not one of the five best teams in the Summit...I'll take it.

A DI win is a win. This league is historically not good on the road in non-conference, even against terrible teams.

I want the Summit to be top 15 in RPI, not losing games like this helps. Too bad USD couldn't beat a terrible team at home though.

If all you care about is RPI maybe a weekly RPI watch would be better? Listing D1 wins all in a row doesn't tell me much without some context.

Anyone else a little confused by this SDSU team. They beat the Whioux by 38, then lose to them by 19, then beat Washington by 19. I haven't seen them play yet this year are they just that streaky of a team or was the loss to the Whioux as big a fluke as our exhibition loss to MSU?

BasketballGuy

I wouldn't say the loss was that big of a fluke MSUM is 9-0 and is not a bad team at all. As far as SDSU Wolters is a top 30 PG in college basketball this season and they seem to be streaky but also dangerous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XYRK61RfHo

Sorry if this was posted somewhere else already. Great national recognition of what TSL is doing this year.

The Summit League continued its strong movement from last week and moved up four spots in this week’s rankings, largely due to two major wins on Sunday. South Dakota State, which sits on top of the Summit League at 10-4, dominated Washington 92-73.

How are they clearly better? I think they matched up fine. And yeah they couldn't miss but they are shooting 46% from the 3 on the year after 9 games so I wouldn't call it a fluke. Is NDSU more athletic? No doubt but I think they MSUM plays as a team just as well and just as smart. If they played 10 games I wouldn't be surprised if MSUM won 5. Anyway who cares hope they do good tonight against the Gophers.

I watch a lot of MSU-M games. I am really impressed with what Chad Walthall has done with their program. They look like a legitimate title contender in the NSIC--but no way do they win 5/10 from the Bison. They won an overtime game when they absolutely shot the lights out and the Bison had a poor effort. I don't think the exhibition game was a fluke, but the teams are by no means equal. Other than Novak, MSU-M is not close to the Bison on the defensive end. I would love to see the Dragons win their conference. Good luck to them!

You make good points. Like I said before not surprised MSUM shot well that's what they do. Team is almost shooting 50 percent from 3 on the year so far. 5 games is probably a stretch but they would be competitive games. You mentioned Novak but forgot Jake Lindfors MSUM's D1 transfer from U of Albany had 21 and 12 against the bison. PG D.J Hamilton gave NDSU's guards a lot of trouble. Once again no doubt NDSU is a better team I just don't think it's that big of a fluke as people make it out to be.

MSUM shoots well, but the Bison are holding their opponents to 37% shooting on the season. They had a very subpar defensive effort against the Dragons. I mentioned Novak (and not Lindfors) as a good defensive player. Lindfors is a highly skilled offensive player, but he and the Dragons team, are not at NDSU's level defensively. While I don't think the exhibition win over NDSU was a complete fluke, I also don't think they could repeat it 50% of the time. Again, I like the Dragons and wish them well. They are a very good D-II team.

I'll say USD/UNO, I hate having SUU in the league that much. At least USD and UNO bring in some regional flavor and from a selfish standpoint ORU leaving should make the league easier to win.

I will miss ORU though, always great to have the Suttons in the BSA and they are solid from an RPI perspective.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I think ORU is starting to open the door for the possibility of the Summit getting an at-large if say ORU loses in the title game. I just don't see them losing many more games, they'll be getting a marquee game for Bracketbusters which will be a great showcase for them and the Summit.

I can't wait for that game at the BSA, ORU might be 21-4 and would be without a doubt the best team to set foot in the BSA.

ORU is currently a top-50 RPI team for the most part (56 in Pomeroy, 44 in Sagarin, 47 in RealTime). Imagine how much of a boost it would be for NDSU to beat a top-50 RPI team, not to mention another high RPI team at home in BracketBusters. Hope we get the BSA packed for both games!!
