There are so many reasons why Saturdays game may be the biggest game in dome history

1) Can clinch a share of the conference Championship with a win
2) Can set a season attendance record with a good student turnout
3) Youngstown can make the playoffs if they win their last 2. They a
re 3-3 in the conference and nearly beat UNI at the UNI dome last night.
4) Bison - YSU games are always great games. YSU has won 2 of the last 3 and we barely squeaked by last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=dj0pT9Angbw

Need to go batshit crazy and try to duplicate the UNI energy.

Crazy watching those highlights. Big plays by Mohler, Vogt, Howard, Sigers...all underclassman last year, 3 of them gone this year and one punting. Thank goodness for great recruiting! Seems like 10 years ago watching those highlights.

Lets see how big it is after we lose to YSU and have to win on the road next week Missouri State style only to see UNI win the conference ultimately meaning the UNI game was for nothing. This is the biggest game of the year

Odds are UNI wins out. That means if we go 0-2 we get nothing and they're the Champions ... again. They will let is know too.

IMO isu-r at this point in time is better than YSU. The game is also at isu-r. I think the redbirds have a good shot at winning.

Mark a 'W' on this upcoming game. If SDSU can beat them, we win by a couple of touchdowns. Yeah...YSU will bring a very athletic team. There's something about this group (Bison) that knows what to do. They understand the mission. The main ingredient to my prediction is the presence of a passing attack. We have what it takes.

The only thing that I worry about is the health of Brock Jensen.

Not going to happen without a playoff game - could set a record for 6 home games with 17,011 though:

I love getting ahead of myself, but what if the Bison pull off the big victory on Saturday? Do you sit Brock for WIU if at least a share of the title is secured, and shift the focus to the national crown? Food for thought, and something that is spinning around in my head. I want an undisputed crown, too, but you know what? I want a national title more.

Depends on how the YSU game goes, I think. If it's a close victory you have to let Brock get a few series in against WIU to keep the groove going and work out any final pre-playoffs kinks. If we handle YSU, play him first quarter and let Esley take over. Good chance for the backup to get some meaningful playing time and to let Brock get (hopefully) two weeks to rest up that toe.

We should make a poll about this after YSU.

A loss would bump us out of the #1 seed position...which could potentially lead to an away game down the road. Home field is very important. Also, so Jensen could sit the game, but would you sit him for two weeks of practice as well? Just can't be done. He needs to stay active.

Yeah the #1 seed is what will get us to the Championship game. Brock needs reps or else well end up like UNI being rusty going up against Lehigh. The bye week will allow him to heal. (I stole that from Kolpack )/Izzo video) Plus momentum is huge.

I say start him against WIU. If we get up by 17, sit him. Then he has a bye and the path is set.

Game time experience for esley could be a huge positive if brock gets hurt in the playoffs though.

I wouldnt lose a game just to get esley experience. But if the opportunity arises it is a big insurance thing... not to mention esley hasnt looked that great in his last couple outings.

He's played like 3 plays. You don't even get a chance to settle into the game with that amount of time. Relax, everything is going to be just fine.

TAB, I agree, but man, I am worried about that toe. He is one bad plant away from being lost for at least the rest of a game. Just wanted to throw this out there, and I do think we may need to pull him in teh 4th quarter if at all possible in the next two games. Thorton could use the reps. I'd say if up by more than 14 in the 4th, or 14 with less then 8 minutes, time to put Thorton in.

Agree with this... Even though a #2 seed still only means one road game (Frisco), i'm afraid a late season loss would bump us further down than 2... it's the old "what have you proven to us lately" syndrome... a loss early in the season can/may be made up versus one late in the season... Win out, get #1 and let the chips fall where they may IMO...:)

Exactly. If we ever have to go toe-to-toe with anyone with Brock at the helm with that injury, we are screwed!

11-07-2011, 08:37 PM
My take is this: play Brock for at least the first half. Don't change anything. Keep the rythm & momentum going. If we happen to be up 3 TDs at half in that game, then pull him for the half. Brock can sit out and rest the entire next week and get some treatment along with other players. If you start pulling back the reins, the team can start getting complacent.

Keep it rolling, regardless of the opponent.

17665 would set record. Only about 150 reserved remain so its a hot ticket. . Assuming the game sells out need 2570 students to break record. Maybe a few less if we do standing room.
its tough to pack the students late in the year but if we can't set the record this year at 9-0 with a chance to clinch, it would be disappointing.

Capacity 18900
-3800 students
15100 with no students
Need 2570 students to break the single season average

Play Brock....period!

If we get up in the 3rd or 4th quarters then bring in Esley. #1 seed is important or #2 for that matter but a loss might slip us below #2.

Brock will have 2 weeks to rest his toe with the bye.

With the attrition in the WR group, I am concerned about the passing attack. Starting a true Fr walk on does not bode well for the long term. We need Vraa back. We also need Vigen to get inventive on using TEs in several formations other than simply a two TE set. Bottom line, I too worry about Jensen's toe, but the passing attack has lost some steam in my opinion.

I don't think the passing attack has lost all that much to be honest. Saturday there were a ton of drops and/or catches that should have been made that weren't. Factor those in and I think the completion percentage would still be very good. 88% like Brock had against UNI isn't going to happen very often but I think can and will happen the more we are at home. We need these next 2 games to make sure the playoffs come through the Dome as the entire team plays much better at home.
