The NDSU football program enters new territory as the team looks to defend its #1 ranking following last Saturday's landmark 27-19 victory over Northern Iowa, jettisoning the Bison to first place in the conference and setting the table for NDSU's first-ever Missouri Valley Football Championship regular-season conference title. Standing in the way of that defense is an upset-minded Indiana State squad that features one of the nation's premier running backs and a list of intangibles that paint a challenge for the 8-0 Bison.

Good read Kyle. Sounds like the Syamores have a good team, the MVFC has got to be one of the best, if not the best, conferences in the FCS. Here come the BISON!

I commented on this in another thread and will probably write next week's column on it, but the MVFC is a total dogfight for places 2-5. Compared to last year the conference has improved greatly and the results are playing out in front of us. Even Youngstown State is still a factor but has probably the toughest road of the five as they visit UNI and NDSU in consecutive weeks. FCS writer Sean Shapiro even thinks we can get 4 in this year, with NDSU, UNI, and the ISUs.

Really like Ilinois State to upset Northern Iowa in the final week, they get the bye week and then face UNI at home. Nasty run defense led by a Wisconsin transfer at DT, tons of momentum for the Redbirds right now. Man, I love playoff football.

I'd include #1 in that stretch. I don't think anyone has this conference locked up by any means.
